Meet the latest editions to the Lipstick Queen Family: Belle Epoque Lip Balm and Hello Sailor Lip Gloss! Ever a delight, the Lipstick Queen line (most recently reviewed HERE and HERE) always strikes the quintessential balance between whimsy and gorgeous color payoff for utterly luxe lips.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the lip color in action as well as the Bottom Line…

The Belle Epoque Lip Balm (also available at Space.NK, Nordstrom, Barney’s NY and Net-A-Porter) is a lovely incarnation…emollient and lush, Belle Nude doesn’t impart a great deal of color (think, sheer apricot pink with no shimmer) but it makes lips look healthy with a slightly shiny, buttery finish. I can’t wait to try it with a nude lipliner like Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk for a deeper effect. All in all, this formula is fantastic and I love that Lipstick Queen incorporated a balm into its lineup.
Belle Époque is a range of three hydrating and tinted balms that bathe the lips in nourishment and comfort, whilst adding a hint of color. Rich, non-sticky and instantly soothing, these balms are fortified with an algae extract rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9 as well as moisturizing Shea Butter and anti-oxidant Vitamin E.
With regular use, they improve moisture levels in the lips and minimize water loss thanks to Rice Lipids. A subtle hint of flattering and wearable color is the final Lipstick Queen touch for a beautifully natural lip look.

Sporting the same gorgeous mauve-blue tint as the original Hello Sailor Lipstick (also available at Space.NK, Nordstrom, Barney’s NY and Net-A-Porter and reviewed HERE) this distinctly non-sticky gloss is a standalone beauty. Moisturizing and plush, I love sweeping this over bare lips for a customized cool pink wash of color. A moment after application, it could almost appear clear, but after a few minutes, it deepens into a lovely shade that looks slightly different with each wearer’s unique chemistry. Truly stunning!
Following the phenomenal success of Hello Sailor lipstick, which first made waves back in May 2013, Poppy King introduces a new way to wear this ‘naughty-cool’ shade. New for spring 2015, Hello Sailor Lip Gloss is a sheer, shimmering and lip plumping gloss in the same head-turning and long-lasting navy sapphire shade.
Enriched with Vitamin E and natural oils to keep lips smooth, soft and hydrated, this remarkable, conditioning lip gloss has absolutely no hint of stickiness or gloop. Its texture is more akin to that of a serum, with nourishing Meadow Seed Oil, moisturizing Shea Butter, Omega 3, 6 and 9 and anti-oxidant Vitamin E for lips that feel soft and pampered. The plumping action comes from Maxi-lip, a natural peptide that stimulates collagen synthesis. As for its extraordinary topaz blue color, this morphs on the lips into a flattering pinky mauve and the additional blue pearl shimmer will make your teeth and the whites of your eyes appear whiter and brighter.

Bottom Line: The Lipstick Queen Belle Epoque Lip Balm and Hello Sailor Lip Glossare comely additions to my lip color menagerie. I’ve been keeping Belle Nude on my nightstand for marvelously hydrated lips while I sleep and the Hello Sailor Lip Gloss is a peerless shade of purple-meets-pink that can be hastily applied without a mirror and still look fetching. It’s had a solid place in my purse as of late!
Good things ahead, including an Anthropologie beauty feature (use XTRAXTRA for 30% off all sale merchandise right now), a September Favorites video (!) and a skincare update, not to mention a host of new product procurements…I hope your week is off to a terrific start.
