very impressive!!!! I can not bake to save my life!!! oxox casey
Hello Casey!
Why thank you…to be fair, I have had MANY baking disasters that have led me to this place of marginal competency ; )

First off, how appropriate you used "Frantic Pink"!! Second of all, I NEED the recipe for the cake and FROSTING! My mouth is absolutely watering just looking at the light fluffy stuff! Are those MALT BALLS? Nummmy!!! I am a dessert Foodie and am in serious Need right now.
Happy New Year! It's so wonderful to have "met" you this year. xoxox Susan
Hello Susan!
That first sentence made me smile ; ) Thank you for your kind words about my cake…this was a yellow cake with chocolate malt frosting (you have a good eye!). I just use a box of Betty Crocker Butter Recipe Yellow Cake Mix (the butter recipe makes ALL the difference) and to make the frosting, I combine a stick of butter, a package of cream cheese, a box of powered sugar and a random amount of pure cocoa powder and malted milk powder until it tastes the way I want it to…this frosting "recipe" is the result of lots of experimentation!!
Happy New Year to you, too…I am so glad that we've connected in this way!

Oh boy! Thank you so much for letting me know…guess what I'm making for daughter's birthday in Jan. (She's not here, but hey, good excuse to make a cake!) Is the malted milk powder the chocolate flavored one or the plain. I used to be able to get chocolate malt, but they don't carry it in our one store that's here anymore. Do you add the cocoa & malt by the tablespoon to taste/eye?
I love that were are connected too!! I'm really quite honored and flattered!

My pleasure! I just use the plain malted milk powder…I find that it cuts the sweetness of the sugar and makes the frosting oh-so-malty. I add the cocoa and malt straight from the containers, and by my rough estimation, it is probably two tablespoons of the cocoa and at least three of the malt!
Can't wait to hear how the cake turns out, dear friend….xoxo,

That cake looks delish and you look fabulous as always. 10 mins?! That was a a real challenge! Happy New Year! xox
Thanks so much, Kath!! Yes, really ten minutes…all that running late and rushing over the span of my life has paid off ; )
Happy New Year to you, too…such a pleasure to talk each week!
