The box that houses this bronzer is beyond charming. |
My love for Rouge Bunny Rouge continues with this review of the Bronzing Glow Powder in Netherway Cove. Retailing for $49 at www.beautyhabit.com, this bronzer has surpassed my expectations, swiftly replacing the remainder of my Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer #01 in the precious high-rent real estate of my cosmetics bag.
At Netherway Cove is the darker of the two RBR bronzer options, though I think it is completely suitable for light to medium skin tones.
|
The bronzer shade itself is extremely special. For reference, some bronzers that I have used faithfully include Edward Bess Ultra Luminous Bronzer in Daydream and Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in #01…while these bronzers are fabulous (please scroll down towards the end of this post for comparison swatches), the ability for Netherway Cove to be authentically tan (without orange or red undertones) and both shimmer-free yet glowing is a pleasant conundrum, that places it above the rest.
It comes in a lovely plastic compact with a generous mirror.

Rouge Bunny Rouge via the Beautyhabit website describes Netherway Cove as a…
Satin-finish natural coral-brown.
This bronzing powder is impalpable on the skin and instantly transforms the complexion. Advanced micronisation, in combination with treated spherical powders, produces an unusual perfecting powder with smoothing properties. Dazzling micro-particles are contained within a silky and luminous formula, with Ceramide 2 and Palmitoylated Oligopeptide to repair and Quercus Suber Extract to smooth and lift. Papaya Extract smoothes the skin and Passion Fruit Seed Oil is a natural anti-oxidant.
This bronzer is a matte (yet, somehow glowing) brown with no perceptible shimmer and possesses a very believable olive, rather than orange, undertone.

As demonstrated by the comparison swatches above and below, the Gueralain Terracotta is a bit thicker in texture than the Edward Bess Ultra Luminous Bronzer in Daydream, which has some shimmer and is a bit more russet in tone. The Rouge Bunny Rouge is the most “olive brown” of the three, as well as being shimmer free and extremely silky in texture…it just melts into and becomes “one” with the skin.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Bronzing Glow Powder in hollow of cheekbones…this bronzer is excellent for subtle contouring while giving the appearance of a light tan! |
Bottom Line: The Rouge Bunny Rouge Bronzing Glow Powder in Netherway Cove is nothing short of amazing…the pure bronzed look it yields, all while avoiding shimmer, oxidation and the dreaded “orange effect” is sensational. Highly recommended to achieve luminous bronzing, believable natural contouring and an overall natural, healthy glow, all without the harmful effects of the sun!

Hi Beauty Professor!
I love the look of this bronzer! I, like you, have used and loved EB's Daydream. But this one looks amazing. I have been mentally assembling my first RBR order in my head for some time now. I can't believe I don't have any of their products yet! That will be remedied soon.
I meant to tell you….I finally ordered GA's Eyes to Kill in #15 and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. Also, while I was on nordstrom.com, I noticed a new range of the Eyes to Kill eyeshadows. These are called Eyes to Kill Intense Waterproof Eyeshadow and are new. I think the shades start with #24 or #25. I remember reading about the color of #25 in Jane Larkworthy's beauty page in W magazine. Have you heard about these or seen them in person?
And, you will appreciate this, Sephora is carrying a new Laura Mercier Lip Color Creme that is exclusive to Sephora. It is called "Rose Quartz" and it is a light pink-peach. It looks lovely, and is supposedly limited edition (ah, the magic words for me!) It seems very much up your, and my, color alley!
Kate
Hello Kate,
How lovely to hear from you! I am glad you like the RBR bronzer. The main difference between this bronzer and the EB is I think this one is a bit more brown (rather than warm) and lacks the shimmer (definitely more of a true satin finish) of Daydream. You will have to tell me what RBR products you decide to order…I have loved everything that I have bought so far (and beautyhabit.com has made it ridiculously easy to continue amassing product for my stash!).
Congrats on ordering the GA #15…I suspect you will love it. The color is just so versatile and long lasting that I find myself reaching for it multiple times a week. I heard about the waterproof Eyes to Kill but haven't seen them in person as of yet. I am surprised that they are going this route since I feel like the normal Eyes to Kill shadows are virtually impervious to water. Perhaps they will be super waterproof like the Makeup Forever Aqua Cream Shadows…have you tried them? I just got one in Taupe and can attest to the fact that it will NOT come off without a hearty dosage of eye makeup remover. It is pretty impressive yet a little disconcerting…what ingredients are THAT powerful? I guest that's why I'm not a chemist : )
Haven't seen the LM Rose Quartz yet but cannot wait to behold its peach-pink splendor…thanks for the heads up!
Hope all is well and looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Do I really need a 4th bronzer? Agh?
Hi Sandy…you are too funny! ; )
That's exactly what I thought until I got it…now I'm on my second one!!
Have a lovely weekend,

Before Tom Ford had his own make up line, he did a summer color line for Estee Lauder. It included a bronzer, the likes of which I have never been able to duplicate, and a lipstick that was a sheer, light tan bronze, that I was smart enough to buy all that the counter had!!! The bronzer was a taupy bronze, no orange, no red, just taupy brown with a slight shimmer. I am down to the bottom of a very large compact, and I use bronzer rarely!! Do you think this "olive btown" is the same shade I am describing? I am very fair and have red hair and green/hazel eyes, so I cannot wear regular bronzers, they turn orange, as do many make up products, immediately. A make up artist once showed me how to use a taupe eyeshadow as a brown blush. The pink in my skin mixes with the taupe and makes the perfect, warm shade. That type of taupey color is now popular as contour color. So do you think this may match my old favorite? I ordered one RBR eyeshadow and was disappointed, the taupe color came out grayish purple on me. So I am hesitant to order their products again, sight unseen, without more research.
Hello Ellen,
I remember when Tom Ford did that color line…it was such a beautiful little capsule collection; well done on foreseeing the magic of that bronzer and buying some backups! This RBR bronzer may be the one you are looking for! Another shade you might be interested in is the RBR At Goldcombe Bay Bronzing Powder (also reviewed on my blog)…it is a hair lighter than the Netherway Cove but equally olive brown (rather than orange). I have also heard good things about Burberry blush in Earthy; I don't own it yet, but it appears to be a shimmerless taupe brown that can be used for contour and warmth.
Hope that helps…do keep me posted on the results of your search…xoxo,
