Skincare Spotlight + Summer Skin with BIOEFFECT
I started using BIOEFFECT (available at Cos Bar) a few years ago and every time I mention products from the line, I am met with equal parts interest and enthusiasm from Beauty Professor readers. Consequently, I’ve been wanting to do a deep dive into this opulent Icelandic brand’s key offerings. Also, I am excited to share this in-depth overview of some of my favorite formulas.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of everything in action as well as the Bottom Line…
BIOEFFECT
At the core of BIOEFFECT is an exceptional and proprietary technology resulting from a decade of research that harnesses the power of plant-based Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). Harvested from barley grown in inert volcanic pumice, using geothermal energy and Icelandic water, the center of EGF production can be found nestled in the lava fields of Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula where up to 130,000 barley plants are thriving. Studies (both in-house and independent) show that when applied topically, EFG (which we naturally lose as we age) can significantly encourage collagen and elastin production, thereby increasing skin density and thickness and restoring the signs of youth and vitality to skin engaged in the aging process.
BIOEFFECT EFG Serum
The hero of the range, indubitably, is the *BIOEFFECT EFG Serum. Exceptionally lightweight and fragrance-free, this potent 7-ingredient formula helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while leaving skin with a bouncy glow that increases over time. The EGF-charged ingredients energize during the skin’s rest cycle, repairing and revitalizing the visage with each evening application.
BIOEFFECT Micellar Water
To use, begin with clean skin (I love the gentle yet effective *BIOEFFECT Micellar Water to sweep away dirt and makeup) and gently pat 2-4 drops into the skin at night. It’s concentrated and immediately absorbs into the skin…no other skincare is needed follow; it’s an impressively restorative powerhouse in a diminutive bottle that will last for months.
BIOEFFECT EGE Eye Serum
Every single week, readers and followers request recommendations for eye treatments that really work. Enter: the *BIOEFFECT EGF Eye Serum (also reviewed HERE). Lightweight and instantly absorbed, the eye serum is specially formulated for the delicate orbital area and the calibrated level of EGF helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles while smoothing fine lines and delivering radiance. The steel roller ball applicator adeptly distributes the serum and each time I use it, my eyes look brighter and feel revived.
I took the *BIOEFFECT EGF Eye Serum on a trip (with very minimal sleep) to Dallas last month and it was a lifesaver for my tired eyes…in turn, it will be accompanying me on my June travels as well. Finally, for moments when your skin requires an infusion of moisture the *BIOEFFECT EGF Power Cream is a brilliant choice that is apropos for all skin types. In addition to the EFG, this lush, nourishing and fragrance-free cream includes Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E to masterfully hydrate on contact. Moisture levels stay strong for up to 12 hours and are increased by 35% after just two days of usage.
When my skin feels on the dry side due to weather, travel or even air conditioning, I love to layer a touch of this cream (a little goes a long way) on top of the *BIOEFFECT EGF Serum; it leaves my complexion fresh and balanced and also imparts a luminous glow. The *BIOEFFECT EGF Power Cream
// STYLE NOTES //
Some summer uniform staples include this green bikini top (comes in an array of colors), denim cutoffs (worn in a size 26), a men’s white buttondown (this particular one is my absolute favorite) and some luxe dad sandals that are at home on land and in the water. All four are pieces that you’ll reach for time and again over the next few months!
// MAKEUP DETAILS //
For the look in this story, I applied the Colorescience Flex SPF50 in a mix of Medium and Tan and blended the buttery brown Gucci Bronzer #3 in the hollows of my cheeks and perimeter of my face. Then I swept the Tom Ford blush do in Eclat Nu (a perfect peachy pink) on the apples of my cheeks.
For eyes, I blended all four powders in the *Charlotte Tilbury Dream Light Palette (a gorgeous range of luminous rosy bronze hues…it’s selling out like crazy, get it while you can) on and swept the *Sisley-Paris Phyto-Kohl Star Matte Eyeliner in Jungle Green on my lower waterline. For lips, I moisturized with the Beautybio Pout, created definition with Lancome Mars liner and finished the rosy neutral Chantecaille Honeypot.

Good things ahead, including a fresh video tutorial, a brow and lash intensive, a travel beauty story and a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping guide (yes, it’s almost that time again)…cannot wait to share.
In the meanwhile, I post daily content on my Instagram and LTK shop…please make sure to follow me there, too.
Stay strong, seek wisdom, much love and more soon,

Hello, I’ve watched your YouTube for years and always do a deep dive into your site before buying new makeup (esp. Cle de Peau which I use for foundation and concealer). I have tried sample sizes from my Liberty Advent calendar, of the Augustinus Bader Rich cream, and have also had a few little littles of the Bioeffect, but not used either for long enough to make an informed opinion. Do you feel they compare? Both being stem-cell treatment serums/creams… there is a significant difference in price and I’m having a tough time deciding which to fully invest in and use for the forseeable. Can you please tell me your opinion? 53, great skin, had facelift, fair skin 🙂
Thankyou so much in advance
Iona
Thanks so much for the kind comment, Iona! Honored to be a trusted source for your beauty purchases. In my experience, the Bioeffect serum and AB Rich Cream do different things…the serum works to increase collagen production and overall skin strength/density but doesn’t add moisture, per se. The AB Rich Cream is one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used and I have run through no less than 7 bottles over the years. Using the two together will deliver optimum results. Hope that helps! xx
