I hope your February is off to a wonderful start, dear readers! This story is the last time you’ll see the only backyard ever to be featured in Beauty Professor…after six years of tropical foliage, we have moved, leaving behind fond memories and countless beauty features. That being said, our new home is rife with places to take pictures and I look forward to revealing our new set up as we settle in.
In the meanwhile, this beauty look–which includes radiant new launches from Dior and Laura Mercier–is an homage to my backyard…so grateful for all the ways in which it lent itself to this blog!
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…
Base + Face.
// BASE + FACE // Even yet glowing, the canvas is perfected by light.
I started with a pea-sized amount of the *Sisley Instant Eclat (reviewed HERE) onto my face; it evens my skin and blurs pores and imperfections while imparting a healthy glow.
Then, I buffed a few drops of the Dior Forever Undercover Foundation in #35 Desert Beige onto my skin with a damp Beauty Blender. This liquid formula Although I also purchased it in #31 Sand (my perfect match in the Dior Air Flash), I found Sand to be too dark and warm for my dead-of-winter skin. Thankfully, the neutrality of Desert Beige blends into my canvas seamlessly and lasts the day without creasing or migrating. The lightweight yet full coverage formula looks surprisingly natural on the skin and I got 8+ hours of flawless wear time without the need to touch up. If you’ve been on the line about trying this foundation, I would recommend giving it a spin!
Resonating with the sunny afternoon, I spritzed on the complex floral *Ralph Lauren Woman; the lilting tuberose notes are anchored by woodsy elements, culminating in a sparkling result that captivates the senses.
Many shades of the *Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lip Color (also available at Sephora) have been bouncing around in my makeup bag for the last couple of months; these streamlined wonders feature a slim, retractable bullet that possesses immense color payoff in a single swipe. The hydrating, velvety formula hugs lips and wears evenly, making it one of the most comfortable demi-matte options on the market.
After testing the impressive range of 24 hues, I am partial to the nude pink Ruthless (excellent for fair and light skin tones), strawberry red Clique (instantly face brightening), peachy Cool (1960s sophistication…used later in this post) and tropical tangerine On Point (which will be killer on tan and deep complexions).

Eyes + Lips.
// EYES + LIPS // Golden luminosity is punctuated by a pale peach lip.
*Rituel de Fille Eye Soot in Golden Age: (also available at Credo Beauty): I blended a bit of this creamy olive tone in my upper crease and also along my lower lash line; for an organic brand, the crease-free lasting power is divine and I cannot wait to try other shades in the lineup.
*Touch In Sol Metallist Duo in Eldora (reviewed HERE): This radiant gold duo never disappoints; in this case, I blended the luminous glitter along my eye lid for intense reflection .
*Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara (reviewed HERE): I applied two coats of this obsidian black mascara…the flexible brush head enables angled precision.
*Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte in Cool(also available at Sephora): My lip color of choice–and, as one would imagine, choosing from 24 shades was indeed daunting–was the pale peach Cool…this shade has a 1960s vibe that works well with olive skin tones and warm neutrals.
Finally, I must introduce you to the *GUNNAR Optics computer glasses, which I’ve been wearing during long bouts of typing. Designed to block harmful blue light and 100% of UV light, these ultra comfortable glasses seem to reduce my eye strain (it seems I’m always looking at a screen) and look chic at the same time!

Style notes.
// STYLE NOTES // Denim on denim with a dash of cream for an easy look.
*STS Blue Denim Jacket(also available with custom embroidery option at STS Blue): A true boyfriend fit with plenty of character, this timeless jacket is a wardrobe staple.
Ivory cashmere sweater: Currently on sale, this lightweight and luxe sweater is in a perfect shade for winter to spring transitional dressing.
Frame Denim stagger jeans: A perfect balance of slim cut yet relaxed, these jeans feature an intriguing staggered hem line.
Charles David black slides: Crafted in super soft leather, these classic slides can be dressed up or down and feel sublime.
Gucci silk scarf(additional options HERE): Just as at home in the hair as around the waist as an impromptu belt or on a handbag as a dash of flair, this vintage scarf is my current favorite.
Last look.

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this beauty-laden farewell two my lush backyard of nearly six years (the expanse of Beauty Professor’s existence thus far); all of the products mentioned have consistently been in my rotation and perform beautifully.
What may have caught your eye? Do tell!
