Chanel Rouge Allure #114 Precieuse Lip Color…New for Spring 2013

Chanel’s new releases for Spring 2013 have, as is always the case with new collections, created quite a frenzy in the beauty world.  From the luminous glow of the limited edition highlighting powder (bought, loved and to be reviewed ASAP!) to the tender splendor of a couple of new Glossimers, Chanel undoubtedly knows how to do springtime.

I recently picked up Chanel Rouge Allure in #114 Precieuse, a nude peach with medium opacity and a brilliant case (I always prefer the RA packaging to anything else…the click is just so satisfying and luxurious).

This review is relatively sparse on words and rich on images…kindly scroll on for the complete Precieuse experience!

Above: Precieuse is a new Rouge Allure release for Chanel’s already famous Spring 2013 collection.

Above: Precieuse is a light peachy nude with a pearly finish.

Above: Precieuse swatched in direct sunlight.

Above: Precieuse swatched in the shade.

Above: All three of these lipsticks share strikingly similar peach-pink-nude hybrid coloring.

Above: The three Chanel lippies begging for a proper swatching…in this image, they almost look identical, no?

Above: Swatches of Chanel Rouge Coco Chintz, Rouge Allure Desinvolte and Rouge Allure Precieuse…Precieuse is the sheerest and also the most “nude” toned (as opposed to having a pinky undertone) of the three.

Bottom Line:  Precieuse is lovely, but, as demonstrate from the images above, not terribly different from some other gorgeous peachy pink nude Chanel lip colors that I own.  It has sheer to medium opacity, a slightly pearly finish and lasts for about 2 hours before reapplying becomes a necessity.  I like the Rouge Allure formula in terms of the hydration it provides, but find it, like other Chanel lippies, to be less effective in the moisture department than that of lip color from Rouge Bunny Rouge, Tom Ford, Kevyn Aucoin and Guerlain.

In terms of overall impressions, I like it, but I don’t love it…I prefer the opacity and pinky-coral tone of Chintz just a hair more.  This, however, is a fantastic option for one who is looking to introduce a sophisticated, high quality, pale peach nude lip color into their lip wardrobe!
