Rouge Bunny Rouge Skin Sanctuary Foundation Swatches!

Above: My samples of Rouge Bunny Rouge Skin Sanctuary Time Defying Foundation.
When I got the news that Rouge Bunny Rouge had released a new base, Skin Sanctuary Time Defying Foundation, I could hardly contain my excitement!
The foundation is featured in their new look for the season, Bora Chiara, seen below:

My love for both this brand and foundation as a product is no secret…in turn, I am happy to share with you swatches of the four shades! They are different than the Milk Aquarelle foundation shades, so the following images should be useful if you decide to order this product, sight unseen.
Here is what RBR has to say about this foundation:

Discover your own time defying potion with RBR’s youth protecting foundation. A medium to high coverage evens skin tone, diminishing the natural signs of aging that appear with mature skin, while giving the gift of preventative and protective virtues to younger complexions. With a creamy yet feather-light texture, a comforting veil is cast over redness and imperfections with an incredible, velvet-soft touch.

The protective qualities of Detoxyl, a natural complex derived from Shea Butter, detoxifies and calms, offering skin sanctuary from ravaging free radicals and urban pollutants. Rejuvenating, skin-identical, lipid actives Ceramide III & IV work to erase fine lines, deeply moisturise and monitor the skin’s dehydration process as extracts of Karitè Butter Seed nourish and soften. With a new, fresh and compelling complexion, all who pass you by will demand to know the secret of your natural, youthful looks.

Suitable for all skin types.
Fragrance and paraben free texture.
30 ml / 1.01 fl oz

The shades are as follows:

1. Linen Cream: Pale milky beige (the lightest shade, with yellow undertones…approximately NC 20 or so)

2. Quinoa Cream: Pale pinkish beige (light with more neutral beige undertones…NC/NW 20-25)

3. Wheat Cream: Medium tawny beige (light to medium beige with warm yellow undertones…this is closest to my skin which is NC 25-27 for most of the year). Anyone in the NC 25-30 range could get away with this shade!

4. Barley Cream: Medium honeyed beige (and the darkest in the shade range…approximately NC 35-40)

Bottom Line:  I will be trying this foundation on my face later on this week and testing for coverage, finish and wear time.  As soon as I have a verdict, I will make sure to post on the results!  As it stands right now, my initial impressions include: this product is non-scented, has more coverage than Milk Aquarelle (this is medium to full coverage, where as Milk Aquarelle is medium), this is a tad thicker than the MA, one coat is sufficient for a “full face” and the texture is smooth but feels like it stays in place nicely!  The fact that it has skincare benefits is a superb bonus! More thoughts soon… ; )

Very curious! I haven't tried anything from RBR yet! I am always on the lookout for the perfect full coverage foundation. Barley Cream looks like it may work but hard to tell. What would it correspond with in By Terry Cover Expert or Armani Maestro?

With your impeccable taste in high end makeup, I am surprised that you haven't tried RBR yet, Nisha! I think you would love it, though you've been forewarned, it is an addicting line ; ) I will try to do a swatch comparison with this foundation and the By Terry and Maestro formulas this weekend…definitely next on my list!!

Excellent, I've been waiting for these swatches. Unfortunately it looks like this'll be too dark for me. I'll be interested to read what you have to say about it though, thanks!

Happy to oblige, Trona…the four shades do indeed seem to mostly represent the middle of the spectrum rather than including options for very fair and dark skin…hopefully they will release more in the future. My review should be up soon!

Very excited to hear your thoughts. I love their eyeshadow and blush, but have yet to try their liquid products. Very interested in this foundation. It also makes me so happy to have found you because we wear the same shades in other brands, so I always know which one to go for if you review! 🙂

I love RBR and wheat looks perfect for me too! You are also my go to girl for swatches esp of high end products. Love that you are in OC too! What do you think of Sisley Phyto foundation?

Fantastic, Bengaltiger…so glad to hear that you found your match. Your kind and encouraging words about my swatching is much appreciated…I always aim to post the kinds of swatches that I would personally want to stumble upon (or, obsessively search for, depending on the product!) online ; ) Are a fellow OC girl? Do you frequent South Coast Plaza?!

I have some Sisley Phyto foundation samples but haven't tried it on my face so I cannot weigh in on the formula yet…I do own the Sisley Transmat foundation and should really do a review on it in the coming weeks (as well as some swatch comparisons!). Looking forward to some time off after Christmas which should allow for some intense blogging!!

      Merry Christmas and talk soon!

    Hey Beauty Professor!!

Great post, and beautiful swatches, as always. My foundation dilemma continues as I try to figure out which shades I now wear. I was an NC25(ish) for so long that I forgot what my actual shade was with no self-tanner. It is probably closer to an NC10-15. So much more pale!! I was looking at these swatches, and I would definitely be the Linen. I am still trying to figure out which shade to order from the LMdB Classic foundation. I was thinking a 4, but I might go lighter and try to mix it with my #7. But I can always mix the #4 with the KGD BE-1. I cannot believe what a difference there is with no tan on my facce.

I also desperately need to find a good concealer or fuller coverage foundation to apply over my redness. Now that I don't have the self-tanner, the redness is much more apparent. So, I was thinking of ordering the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin stuff. Or, I was thinking of the Tom Ford Traceless foundation stick. I keep going back and looking at your swatches to try to figure out which shade I would be. It is so helpful to have those swatches!

Tonight is my Christmas gift exchange with the hubby. We decided to exchange gifts tonight so we don't have to haul them with us when we travel to his Mom's for Christmas. Plus, we can just enjoy a quiet evening together before the madness ensues. I tend to like more quiet gatherings, but there are going to be 18 people at his mom's for Christmas Eve. That's kind of overload for me. So, I am soaking in the quietness now! Lol. And I have no doubt there is a bag of mint M&Ms in my future! Do you and your husband exchange gifts?

I am wearing a bold lip today and I feel so strange! Lol. It makes me long for Nude Vanille, but I am getting so pale now that I kind of feel like I have to do a stronger lip. But my love for nude, pale colors will never die.

I meant to tell you, did you know that Michelle Money from the Bachelor and Bachelor Pad has a YouTube channel? Actually, I think she has two. One is a channel she has with her friend and it is called the MMandL show. It's kind of hilarious. They get a little out of control at times, but it is amusing. And they talk about makeup since I think Michelle is a makeup artist or something like that. If you don't recognize her name I am sure you would know who she was when you saw her. She was a single mom from Denver or somewhere out west, and she was kinda crazy. I don't think the ladies liked her much when she was on the Bachelor. But I saw that the other day and knew I had to mention it to you. Michael Stagliano was on as a guest on one of their videos.

This is probably the last time I will "talk" to you before Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful holiday! Talk to you soon!

    xoxo,
    Kate

      Hello Kate!

As always, how wonderful to hear from you! The last few days have been wildly busy, but I wanted to make sure that I replied before Christmas ; ) I am guessing that you are now with your with your in-laws…hope your time is full of joy and fun!

Sorry to hear about your foundation predicament…I know this all too well. I down to a NC 25 (from my summer/fall NC 30 or so) and am wearing either the Revlon in Warm Golden (in light of my collection, insane I know) or the TF Stick in Natural #05 (which goes on pretty light but oxidizes a hair darker). If you are lighter than me now, then I think you could get away with the #3 Fawn in this foundation…good for light, yellow-based beige skin. I think I may order the RBR Skin Sanctuary in Wheat which should match me for the next 5 months or so…right now, I can only order it from the RBR site (which is great, but since it is located in Europe, it takes quite awhile to receive) so I have to just bite the bullet and do it…my sample will only last a bit longer and it is a nice alternative to everything else I am using.

In terms of concealer, I love the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-3. I've worn it for over a decade, you can custom blend to shades to match and it covers everything. I also love the LMdB Peau Vierge concealer…the coverage is great…it is much more expensive but definitely has a permanent home in my makeup bag. The TF stick can also act as a concealer (which is why it is always in my purse as well) and you cannot beat the coverage of the KA SSE…it just has a stronger scent than I usually prefer.

Dying to know what your husband got you?! My husband and I definitely exchange gifts…this time, we'll exchange them on Christmas morning…I think I may be getting a certain bracelet from Barneys but I will have to wait and see ; ) I am also hoping for some TF Tobacco Vanille (if not for Christmas, then likely my birthday, which is a week later!)…I think I recall you saying you own this fragrance…do you still love it?

What bold lip were you wearing?? After our last comment exchange, I ended up buying a back up of the TF Nude Vanille just in case…I'm halfway through my current tube, so I have some time before this is an issue ; )

I think I have seen some of Michelle Money's videos in the past…she is so silly…actually, amusing is indeed the best word to describe her and her onscreen antics. I will have to check it out again. She definitely has good hair and makeup!

I haven't bought much makeup in the last week or so…just Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Lucky (I think you would love this peachy pink if you don't already own it!) and my mom and dad got me the new Spring 2013 Guerlain lipstick in Romance, which is a lovely light lilac pink…pictures and posts soon!

Have a wonderfully blessed Christmas…I look forward to talking soon. Thanks also for your sweet words about my brother…he is indeed cute and a really fantastic brother to boot!!

      Hi Beauty Professor!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Did you get the Tobacco Vanille? I do still have it and wear it. It lasts…and lasts….and lasts. And I apply it sparingly since it is such a potent concentration. I wear it on the coldest days of winter when I want to feel warm and snuggly. I really like it, though. Vanilla is one of my favorite perfume notes. This one is very different than other "mainstream" vanilla notes. It also has a touch of "booze" to it.

I got some really lovely gifts from the husband. I got a handbag, which I actually returned to exchange it for another one. I loved the one he got me, but I have an identical bag in another color of this style, so I exchanged it for a different bag. I was hesitant to exchange it because I didn't want to disappoint him, but he was fine with it. He picks out great gifts. I also got a ring, a wrap bracelet, some perfume (Versace Yellow Diamond) and Nouvelle Vague eye kaleidoscope from LMdB! That black eye shadow is INCREDIBLE. The blackest black eye shadow I have ever seen or used. I love using it as a liner. I also use the second pink shade as a blush.

I got some nice make up gifts from other people. I got two MAC eyeshadows (Woodwinked and Cranberry), the Chanel cake liner (Noir Lame), and the Sephora Pro Airbrush foundation brush #55 (I think I got that name wrong). I love that brush. I also have the #56, which is great, too. The Chanel cake liner is amazing. I also just ordered some lipsticks and gloss from MAC (Snob and Saint Germain) using some gift cards.

I finally broke down and ordered Shade #1 in the LMdB Classic Flawless foundation. I figure I can mix it with my #7 if I need to darken it up. I am still deciding on a good concealer, but I may try the KA SSE. But, I am still strongly considering the Tom Ford stick.

I read an interesting review of Tom Ford's Shade and Illuminate, which I have (and I know you do, too) in Intensity One. This reviewer said that a SA at the Tom Ford counter told her that most people should use Shade Two, since it has more of a grey undertone. I am almost done with my Intensity One, so I think I am going to give the Intensity Two a try. I guess the SA said that Intensity One has a strong yellow/orange undertone. And I definitely prefer my bronzer/contour to have no orange in it. I also really want to try the RBR bronzer. That's up next!

Do you guys have any New Years' plans? The hubs and I have a tradition of making shepard's pie and watching the old black and white Twilight Zone episodes on SyFy, since they have a marathon of those episodes on New Years' Eve. We are just looking forward to a quiet evening after all the traveling we have been doing!

By the way, are you a New Years' baby?! I saw that you mentioned your birthdy is coming up in a week! Any plans for that?

      Talk to you soon!!

      xoxo,
      Kate

      Hello Dear Kate!!

I hope YOU had a wonderful Christmas! I did indeed get the Tobacco Vanille, but for my birthday next week instead of Christmas. I have a deluxe sample in the meanwhile and I cannot stop smelling my wrist when I wear it…so warm and intoxicating! I feel like I have finally figured out what type of scents I prefer…warm, slightly gourmand, a tinge sweet and a little musky. Tobacco Vanille definitely fits the bill! It sounds like you got a lovely bevy of gifts…what type of handbag did you settle on? You are right…the Nouvelle Vague has the darkest, most pigmented black I've ever encountered. I got a beautiful Loren Steward bracelet, a Beauty Professor charm bracelet, some makeup, a special camera lens for my iPhone (makes the macro makeup shots amazing) and some fantastic books and clothing. So thankful and blessed! I know exactly which Sephora brush you are talking about…I have the same one and use it almost every day!

Congrats on your newest LMdB foundation…I am sure it was a difficult decision to get another bottle, but if you love the formula, then mixing #1 with #7 seems like the perfect solution. They just added a Tom Ford counter to the Neiman Marcus nearest to me so I am slowly and judiciously adding more to my ridiculous stash…still loving the foundation stick…it is always in my purse! That is interesting information regarding the Shade and Illuminate…I have the Chanel Notorious powder (which has a decidedly gray/taupe undertone) and find that I prefer the slightly warmer brown of the Tom Ford #01…it just seems to look more natural on me! The RBR bronzer cannot be beat…both shades that I own are are part of my daily routine.

No major New Year's plans…I am guessing that we will have another quiet night at home! I prefer staying in on this wild night…generally my family comes over and we have a meal and watch a copious amount of Twilight Zone as well…I bet if we lived near each other, we would have a blast hanging out being mellow ; )

I am a New Year's baby…my birthday is on 01/04…I am not sure what we are doing for my birthday yet; after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holiday celebrations all in a row, it is always appealing to just do something low key for my birthday!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend…looking forward to talking soon!

thank you thank you thank you!!!! I was searching everywhere for these swatches. Looks like I will be getting wheat which looks LESS ORANGE than the hazelnut, which I got – thank goodness. Olive shouldn't mean orange. However, when I tried google I didn't pull up anything from your site? Maybe a problem with my filtering software? You should check it out. Never would have found your blog with the search for these foundation swatches. So glad you're one of my regular read blogs!

So happy that you found them here, Fairytalesandcoffee!!

The wheat creme is indeed golden yellow beige! As a light olive girl myself, I agree…olive should definitely not mean orange! Thanks for letting me know about the search results…I checked my tags/keywords and did a Google search and it seems that everything is as it should be on my end. I appreciate you concern, though! I will be doing a full review of the foundation in the next few days so please check back if you wish!

Thank you for your readership…I really truly appreciate it and love hearing from you.

Hey beautiful!! I know this post is from ages ago, but I've recently been lemming this foundation like mad!! Tom Ford Traceless stick in Fawn is my perfect match, do you think I should order Quinoa or Linen in the RBR? Thank you so much for all you do for us beauty lovers out here…your swatches are the best!

      Hello Rebekah,

Thanks for the question…if you are a match with TF Fawn, then I suggest ultimately suggest the Quinoa for a match in depth. The Linen is lighter and has more yellow undertones than TF Fawn (it's more like TF Pale Dune). Quinoa might be a tad more neutral than TF Fawn, but overall, it is the closest match of the four RBR options!

I hope that helps…xx and thanks for your kind words!
