- Kanebo Sensai Prime Solution
- Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Wrinkle Repair Cream (one for face, one for eyes) **I’ve been experimenting with samples of this KS skincare and am loving the effect thus far. Bottom Line: Warm summer days call for a low maintenance makeup routine that highlights features without looking overdone. In turn, I have been finding myself reaching for the same products over and over again these past few weeks…a skincare foundation that withstands the heat, a semi-matte creamy blush, black and taupe eye products and pinky nude lip color. These options truly work with all skin tones and types!
What are some of YOUR favorite summer “go to’s” right now?

Thanks so much for responding on Twitter. I broke down and ordered the Koh Gen Do Palette in 302. Love your summer look!
My pleasure, Jillian! Now you'll have to tell me all about it once you get it ; ) Thanks for your words about my summer look!

Giada
Thank you so much, Giada…the Kanebo Sensai foundation has been a splendid discovery for me this spring/summer. I would definitely say it has reached HG status amongst my foundation choices. Absolutely love it! Hope you are able to get it easily where you are!

Love this look! You look beautiful and am glad yiu are enjoying this summer break ;). I have trimmed down my routine to account for the Texas heat and my 12 hour shift as a nurse. I feel naked with no makeup but love the ease of quick waterproof and a outstanding eye OR lip makes me happy. Keep enjoying the moments of spontanaity and I continue to love your blog.
Hello Sherry…thank you!! This summer break has been a God-send for me, indeed. I totally agree…waterproof mascara is a must when humidity is present and there is just something about putting on a bit of makeup that truly lifts the spirits! Thanks for being such a lovely reader and have a wonderful rest of the week!

Great look, especially the pink lip. Any chance you could do a video of you putting this look together?
Thanks, Missy…I will see what I can do this week ; )

You look great but I especially love how you did your hair – any chance you can show us how to do it?
Thank you, Suzy! I will see if I can create a tutorial soon…it is a really easy process ; )

Gorgeous! I think i would give a pinky-toe for your hair, Prof.
I'm with you on the minimizing routine – i was just talking about makeup-survival in this otherworldly heat on my little corner of the internet, too :).
Waterproof Chanel Stylo Yeux eyeliner and mascara, blotting papers, Chantecaille rosewater mist and a nude lip are pretty essential. And, of course, a quick/easy foundation routine. I'm off to re-purchase my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua compact, and the VIncent Longo Water Canvas too. Something about those foundations just feel soothing in this heat.
I simply couldn't take another day of liquid foundation sliding off my face o_O.

Twyla
Hello Twyla,
Thank you so much… you are too sweet and I hope you keep your pinky toe ; ) Thanks also for sharing your favorite summer beauty products…I love your picks! I haven't yet tried the Waterproof Chanel Stylo Yeux eyeliner but have heard such good things that I really need to. The Chante rosewater is just gorgeous (I never get tired of that scent) and I've used the VL Water Canvas off and on for years…so light and refreshing! How does the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact compare in your opinion?

I will try to grow my hair out instead, lol!
The Stylo Yeux is great! I have allergies *all* Spring and Summer, so need an eyeliner that'll stay put – and stay put it does.
I first discovered the Chantecaille Rosewater years ago when i was a makeup artist in Honolulu – i can tell you it was a Godsend :). Been hooked ever since.
The Chanel VAC is definitely not as mattifying as the VL Water Canvas so i need a dusting of powder when we're in the throes of the brutally humid Summers here, , but i find it a bit more soothing and hydrating when my skin is feeling the heat and sun too acutely – you know how it is, sunscreen protects the skin but sometimes the sun can just feel so harsh, regardless. So, i guess on days when it's super-humid and i know i'm going to be an oil-slick, i choose the Water Canvas; on days when my skin needs a little more moisture and TLC, or i know i'll be largely in air-conditioned spaces and prone to drying out a bit, i reach for the the Vitalumiere Compact. They're both still the most refreshing foundations i've found so far. 🙂
Have a great weekend!
xoxo talk to you soon
Twyla
Sounds good, Twyla ; )
Good to hear about the wonder of the Stylo Yeux…I also have horrid spring and summertime allergies that contribute to watery eyes so this sounds amazing!
Thanks so much for explaining the difference between the Chanel VAC and the Longo WC…completely helpful! I used the Water Canvas for years during college and remember loving it. I am usually in between foundation shades in Chanel (20 too light, 30, a hint too dark) but am always open to trying new formulas.
Enjoy the weekend and talk soon…xoxo,
