Above: The By Terry Summer 2014 French Rivera Collection has debuted! |
A quick trip to Bloomingdales’s before heading out of town for the week allowed me to engage in a bit of “guerilla swatching” at Space NK. The SA informed me that the radiant new French Riviera collection from By Terry had arrived mere hours earlier and while my mom engaged in an exchange, I proceeded to swatch all the new elements like a mad woman! After having been entirely enchanted by the By Terry Spring 2014 collection (the Cellularose blushes are to die for), I couldn’t wait to get to work!
Above: Swatches of the Lip to Tint and Cheek to Cheek stains for a glowing, flushed-from-within look. |
First up are the Lip to Tint Water Color Lip Stain water-based lip stains in Beach Game (a glowing tangerine) and Pink Palace (a cool, radiant, medium-toned pink). These little gems are entrancing…at first glance, they look extremely dark but one swipe of the doe-foot applicator and the formula imparts a shimmering effect that lightens the stain considerably. I would imagine that the if you let the pearl powder to settle, you could achieve a more traditional matte stain result but if you shake the formula in the tube prior to application, you’ll be bestowed with the prettiest, most illuminating lip stain I have ever encountered!
Next, are the Cheek to Cheek stains in Cherry Cruise (a deep rose) and Tea to Tan (a true brown tan…no orange tones whatsoever). These are extremely liquid in texture–practically like tinted water–and absorb into the skin with ease. They appear to be buildable, though I am not sure how many layers one would want to employ as I experienced immense pigmentation with a tiny drop.

Finally, are the Aqua-Print Eyeshadows…these retractable shadow sticks are more aesthetically festive then their sophisticated older sister, the beloved Ombre Blackstars. The six shades are bright and colorful and perfect for adding a bit of levity to a classic makeup look.
- Darling Muse is a slightly nude pink-leaning cream beige shade with a shimmery frost finish.
- Pink Frappe is a pale baby pink with a satin shimmer finish.
- Peach Tornado is a golden peach with bronze leanings.
- Green Tornado is a lime green with a luminescent finish.
- Blue Fiesta is a bright royal blue with less shimmer than its predecessors in the lineup.
- Violet Vibes is a true deep purple with a cream finish.
I hope this peek of the By Terry French Riviera collection is helpful! On the day that I swatched everything, the testers had just arrived but the actual products were not yet available for sale, giving me a bit of time to mull over what I might want to procure. Since labeling each shade, I definitely have my eye on the Tint to Lip in Pink Palace…what is catching YOUR eye?

Green Tornado and Blue Fiesta looks sooo pretty! I love Pink Palace shade too but I know it'll look weird with my skin colour.
Hello Shireen,
Good to hear from you! Yes, the shades are so bright and cheerful and as much as I love pink, I can't get away with wearing it on my eyes as well. I have Peach Tornado on my radar since I tend to go for warm golds!

Love By Terry – Such great quality – But I'm betting these will not be popular. IMO only a small percentage of women would be able to pull off these colors as eyeliners, let alone eye shadows.
That being said, Beach Game and Pink Palace look lovely!
I agree…By Terry can do no wrong! That being said, I think the eyeliner shades will appeal to the adventurous makeup wearers out there…also, they have such a tropical vibe so perhaps they'll work well for island vacations, no?
I need Beach Game and Pink Palace in my life ASAP as well ; )

Oh, Pink Palace, DEFINITELY. So sad, I was just in Paris for a few hours and snapped up a whole list of By Terry products, but had no time to sample the new ones. Kicking myself now!
