Above: Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color in 60’s Pink.
I adore the fashion and aesthetic of the 1960s and have an insatiable love for pale pink lip color. How is it, then, that it has taken me so long to procure Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color in 60’s Pink (available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks)? When on vacation in Tucson, I snapped it up at a Sephora event and have had it in my rotation since then. It possesses a delicate balance of satin-finish muted pink without washing out the face and is the quintessential compliment to a lightly bronzed face, especially one acheived with the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Killer Cheekbones Bronze and Glow (now back in stock at Nordstrom, currently offered in an incredible special set at Net-A-Porter and reviewed HERE)…perfection!
Kindly scroll on for more details, images of 60’s Pink in action and shots from the famous Tombstone, AZ as well as the Bottom Line…
Above: 60’s Pink is the quintessential pale pink for a mod look that doesn’t wash out the face.
In terms of formula, the Creme Smooth Lip Color’s name says it all…it’s:
Extremely emmolient and hydrating
Easy to apply…it simpy glides onto the lips
Semi-sheer with one coat but builds to full opacity with a second layer
Long lasting and doesn’t settle into lip lines
Unique…despite having a plethora of pale pinks in my collection, the soft pink pink-meets-salmon tone is distinct in my stash. The closest shade is my ever-favorite Surratt Beauty Lipslique in Fee Soie, which is shinier overall.
The first day I experimented with 60’s Pink, I wore it for an adventure in Tombstone, AZ…yes, the famed western town of OK Corral and Bird Cage Theater fame. I hope you enjoy images from the day!
Above: Tombstone: The Town to Tough to Die.
Above: The Birdcage Theater…housed in the original building and now available for tours.
Above: An authentic stagecoach…not an uncommon sight on the streets of Tombstone.

Bottom Line: Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lipstick in 60’s Pink available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks) is glorious! The soft pink vibe works with a spectrum of makeup looks and the formula feels splendid on the lips. I’m so glad I decided to pick this shade up…highly recommended!
Have YOU tried 60’s Pink? What are some of YOUR favorite pale pink lip color shades?
xx and much more (including foundation reviews and fall collection coverage!) soon,
I love these kind of shades. I like Politely Pink and Hue by Mac. I've also got my eye on Peach Blossom (how many pale pinks do I need?!). This colour goes really well with your skin colour and I absolutely adore the name!
Laura Mercier makes great lipsticks-one of the few brands that does not irritate my sensitive, dry lips. I can't carry off the light pinks but have colors like Audrey, Dry Rose, Cinnamon (can't think of all of them) in my collection.
I love pinks, they just don't always love me lol. I'll have to check 60's Pink out. Your eyeshadow looks fab by the way. I'm absolutely loving the new CdP quads I've picked up and have been trying to keep myself from going back for more right now. Arizona has always been one of my favorite places to visit. It's truly beautiful.
I'm always tempted by the pale, 60's esc pinks, but always worried that they will be too pale for me! Though, this one is so stunning on you, I think it wouldn't hurt to give it a go, right? 😉
One of my new favorite color combos for lips is Tom Ford Blush Nude with MAC Pink Plaid over top of it. The Blush Nude mutes down the Pink Plaid and it just looks so good together. I also like Estee Lauder's Desirable with Dior Kiss Me over top. And a new love of mine is Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Pout. I don't know what it is about Pout, but it is so brightening on my complexion. I also used to love NARS matte lipstick in Bombay, but found it a little drying. I am going to check out this lipstick immediately!
I just ordered my first Tom Ford quad (gulp) in Silvered Topaz. Do you have that one? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
I love your favorite lip combo, Karen…that sounds amazing. I also have Desirable and Kiss Me and need to try that lip mix ; ) I have Pout somewhere in my stash and should really find it and give it another spin…from what I remember, it is a bright yet soft pink.
Congrats on your new TF quad…I have lots of base and lip products from TF but no quads yet. Let me know your thoughts when you get it!
I just had to let you know that I ran out and picked 60s pink–and it is perfection! I love it so much! It has immediately made it into my makeup bag, which means I truly do love it. I also picked up Vouvray by Bite Beauty–have you seen this color? Also perfection, also light pink. And finally, I couldn't resist Becca Beach Souffle in Lychee Opal. I have the Raspberry one and adore it for the bronzed glow it gives, but the Lychee is amazing–a bright pink made less cool with golden shimmer. Thanks for reviewing the 60s Pink–this is not the first item you have made me purchase!!
That is excellent news, Karen! So very glad that you love it. I haven't tried Vouvray but love Restina from Bite and those Becca Beach Souffles have been getting rave reviews…really should take a peek soon.
Ah the Birdcage ! All the stories those walls could tell..n'est–ce pas? Adore Tombstone and visited often when we lived near there.
I enjoy and hold in high regard your blog/ Youtube channel as a wonderful respite of a beauty spot. From the clear photos and descriptions and impressions to the oh so helpful links; it is a template of what happy escapist fare should be. Your effort is much appreciated and valued !
Hi Rachel! I'm wearing 60s Pink today and thought about you immediately–and googled this thread to tell you I still absolutely love this lipstick! Isn't it funny how a lipstick can have such an effect– not only does it look so good but it makes me think of your blog, which I have loved for a long time! You have introduced me to so many skin care products, so much makeup, fashion (I'm Frenchgirlcziki on Insta, and you have seen those shoes I bought because of you!) I just want to thank you. I really love your blog and you are an amazing person. Xoxoxo

What a beautiful colour, looks amazing with a tan too. I might have to pick this up as I have the CT bronze and glow and works so well with it!

I agree, Andrea! The LM formula is marvelous. Thanks for sharing your favorites…Audrey was one of my first LM lipsticks years ago…such a classic!
