Above: The lastest foundation release from Sisley…the Phyto Teint Expert.
I feel as if I have been swimming in a sea of foundations for the last month and a half…no complaints, mind you…it is a pure delight to be able to try a host of incredible releases. The next formula of focus is that of the Sisley Phyto Teint Expert (available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Selfridges and Saks Fifth Avenue). This longwearing fluid foundation offers medium (buildable to full) coverage and skincare benefits to perfect the complexion for hours on end.
Kindly scroll on for more details, my impressions, swatches of nearly every shade, images of the foundation on my face and the Bottom Line…

Here are the official details, courtesy of Neiman Marcus:
Phyto-Teint Expert provides ultra long-lasting, unifying and smoothing coverage combined with the lightness and natural finish of a second-skin foundation. In addition, thanks to the Sisley skincare expertise infused at the heart of the formula, Phyto-Teint Expert enhances and intensely treats the skin for a visibly magnified complexion.
Its ultra-sensorial texture provides adjustable medium to high coverage and 12 hour hold.
Oil-free and non-comedogenic, Phyto-Teint Expert is suitable for all skin types.
Phyto-Teint Expert is available in 8 shades.

My Impressions:
This foundation really surprised me. Texturally, the liquid formula goes on smoothly (I used a dampened Beauty Blender) and blends to a near seamless finish that is neither cakey nor obvious. I would deem the finish a “natural matte” and my skin only gets slightly glowy, even after hours of wear. This brings me to the wear time…the first time I tried this, it was during a long lecturing day in an uber-warm classroom. When I caught a glimpse of my face towards the end of the day, I was stunned by how fresh my skin looked…the foundation hadn’t budged! In terms of lasting power, I would say it is on par with my beloved Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting. Even though it feels rather thin, it offers significant coverage in a single layer.
It does have a light cucumber scent, consistent with other Sisley base products, but my sensitive skin hasn’t experienced any irritation. I noted a bit of “heavy” feeling on my skin by about hour 10, but I don’t know of foundation that wouldn’t yield that sensation after such a long day of wear!
I haven’t used it long enough to credibly speak to its skincare benefits but will continue to experiment with it and weigh back with my experience in a few weeks.

I also have had the opportunity to try some incredible lip shades from the independent line, Girlactik. I am wearing the Le Creme Lipstick in Beautiful, an opaque and creamy peach with slightly pink leanings. It is bright yet soft and the formula wears like a dream…smooth, hydrating and long lasting…I am impressed, indeed. I am sure that these will be mentioned again in a future post as I have been wearing them frequently. Have YOU tried anything from Girlactik?

Bottom Line: Sisley Phyto Teint Expert (available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Selfridges and Saks Fifth Avenue) is a wonderful addition to the sea of recent foundation releases. The natural matte finish that takes on a bit of glow as the day goes on is flattering for a wide range of skin types (including combination, oily and mature) and its medium coverage and stalwart lasting power add to its universal appeal. I recommend giving this luxurious foundation a spin…it may be just the formula you’ve be in search of!
I tried this foundation for the first time today on my oily skin. I was amazed at how beautiful the finish is-it has the most skin-like (if my skin was that of a porcelain doll), radiant effect of any foundation I have ever tried. Unfortunately, after only an hour my oil was coming through, and I had to blot after two hours. The foundation remained, and I was very, very glowy. Just a few minutes ago, at hour five, I blotted again however this time much of the foundation came off. I wore this over my HG primer Murad Oil Control Mattifier. I'm keeping the foundation-I love it. It's just going to be one that I wear for shorter time periods. I'll turn to the newTom Ford for marathon wear. I have the new NARS powder foundation on order, maybe dusting with that instead of NARS LRP will increase my wear time. Beware if you have oily skin…dry, normal, combination-I would definitely give this one a shot. Great review and swatches as always!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I think it is so helpful for BP readers to be able to hear about different takes on a certain formula and I appreciate you taking the time to detail the process for you!
I am in the midst of trying the new NARS powder too…still not sure how I feel about it ; )
I had the chance to try this foundation last weekend. The lovely counter lady, Stacey, did such a fabulous job applying this and I was so impressed with the immediate finish. Hours later, I was still very happy with this foundation.
It is so new that a sample wasn't available. At this price point I really want to give it one try at home with my base products and compare the results from the professional application.
For background- I'm 52 have always had oily skin but have had a complete shift to dry in the last year and it has thrown me for a loop. Skin care and foundation feel and finish that once needed to be matte now I need moisture and dewy finish to look fresh.
It seems like most of the new foundations are a velvety, matte finishes. This Sisley foundation might be the holy grail but I need a sample to try at home.
BP thank you soooo much for your review and swatches 🙂
Thanks for sharing! I hope you get a chance to try it at home for a bit! I know that they have sample packets at Bloomingdale's at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa CA, if that helps ; )
