A quintessential blend of gorgeous makeup emblazoned with iconic images, the Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Collection is now available on charlottetilbury.com. I have professed my love for this stunning beauty line many times over (HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE) and, completely drawn in by the allure of glowy skin, pinky nude lips and an homage to fashion photography of days gone by, I couldn’t help but order a few key pieces this morning!
“I have always been fascinated and inspired by the incredible work of Norman Parkinson. He is a legendary photographer
that, in the fashion world, we turn to again and again. As a makeup artist, I share a library of classic visual references with
the photographers, creative directors and stylists that I work with on shoots and shows. Norman Parkinson’s work is part
of this heritage and is so often featured on the visual moodboards that I create for beauty concepts and behind the scenes.
As such, I often post Norman Parkinson images on my Instagram account. His grandson Jake is a close friend of mine
and after following my posts, approached me with the opportunity to visit the Parkinson archive. After visiting the gallery
of 750,000 negatives and 3,000 original prints, we came up with the idea of creating a limited edition line in homage to his
grandfather’s incredible body of work. It is a dream come true to feature his images on this series of compacts and
makeup bags. It is something that I never thought would be possible, to feature so many iconic images on my products.
I’m so proud of how each piece looks – like covetable vintage compacts that you can be proud to use in public. The makeup
bags are like carrying around a mini piece of art in the clutch of your hands. With the collaboration of the archive, we
knew that we would honour Parkinson in the best light possible. I’m incredibly proud to be celebrating one of the fashion
greats in this way, and bringing his work to life for a new millennial generation.” Charlotte Tilbury
About Norman Parkinson:
Norman Parkinson was active for over 50 years and instrumental in taking portrait and fashion photography beyond the
stiff formality of his predecessors, injecting an easy and casual elegance into his images. His impulsive and unstructured
style changed forever the static, posed approach to fashion photography, while his enchanting, idiosyncratic persona
charmed his sitters and projected an alluring and glamorous public image. He was an eccentric artist, a people person, spontaneous and creative, and has left an indelible mark on the great photographers of today, such as Mario Testino and
Tim Walker. Norman Parkinson worked with every iconic beauty imaginable between the 1930s-80s and on seminal fashion shoots
from Pirelli Calendars to Vogue covers, collaborating with visionaries including Grace Coddington and Audrey Withers. Some of Parkinson’s muses: Jerry Hall, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Sophia Loren, Charlotte
Rampling, the British Royal Family (Queen Mother, Princess Anne & Queen Elizabeth all in Royal Blue), Jean Shrimpton,
David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Bryan Ferry, Iman, Twiggy, Vanessa Redgrave, Jean Seberg, Joan Collins, Linda Evangelista,
Carolina Herrera, Vivien Leigh and Isabella Rossellini.
Bottling the Youth-Enhancing Light Alchemy of his Lens:
“With this collection, I not only wanted to immortalise Norman Parkinson in makeup form, but also capture the DNA of
his vision of beauty: he was an alchemist with light, capturing the sun and the differing effects of mood-lighting on the
skin in a really unique way. He also had a beautiful sensibility for colour. He knew exactly how to play with different
effects of colour and light in order to create the most beautiful images. Makeup artists use the same concept of colour and
light to re-work the facial framework and create a beautiful face on a photo shoot. With this product range, you can
literally paint your face in Parkinson’s youth-enhancing light every day. I wanted everyone to feel touched by the magic
of his lens!” Charlotte Tilbury
- Two Matte Revolution Lipsticks in Miss 1975 Red (a rich, neutral red) and Miss Kensington (a pale, pinky nude cream).
- Official details:
MATTE REVOLUTION LIPSTICK: Charlotte Tilbury breaks new ground with Matte Revolution, the matte lipstick of
the future. This unique formula is enriched with new-generation 3D glowing pigments for lips that look lit-from-
within and an optical ‘matte–trick’ to create the appearance of wider, fuller lips. Enriched with orchid extract for
antioxidant, SPF protection and hydration and seed extracts from “The Lipstick Tree,” a plant extract first brought to
market by Charlotte Tilbury, Matte Revolution does not dry the lips and stays put, unlike most other matte lipsticks. It
has the feel of a nourishing balm but is power-packed with pigments for a high-performance finish that enables you to
build up colour from a stain to a full block of pigment.

*1975 Red – this classic 70s sunset red embodies the fun, naughty, glamourous time of the era. It is inspired by
Jerry Hall shot on Montego Bay. This was Jerry Hall’s first Vogue cover and this year marks its 40th
anniversary. The tone of this Lichtenstein Pop Art shade is made relevant for today with a modern, fresh and
chic matte texture. Partner it with bronzed skin and a summer glow.
-
*Miss Kensington – this shade is inspired by the quintessentially English “haughty but naughty” look of
swinging 60s Chelsea & Kensington. It’s a pretty English rose pink that works well on fairer skin tones and
perfectly encapsulates that era but with the most up-to-date, long-lasting formulas.

- Official details:
(1) ON CALL’ MAKEUP BAG: The perfect makeup bag to house your summer collection, featuring the iconic Jerry
Hall image from Jamaica: Love At First Sight…A Holiday Romance. JERRY HALL, shot on Montego Bay, Jamaica
“This is a reference that I return to again and again. Jerry has long been a global beauty icon with her pools of crystal
blue eyes, luscious lips and flowing golden locks, and I really wanted to celebrate her as a Parkinson muse. Parkinson’s
ability to capture light hugely influences how I think about makeup. As an artist, a lot of my tricks start with a play
on light and dark to enhance and re-shape the facial framework. This new cream texture contouring palette is
inspired by the natural fall of sun light and shade on one’s face and can help you cheat what I call glowing Holiday
Skin, every day.” Charlotte Tilbury
(2) THE BATHING BEAUTY BAG: The Bathing Beauty bag has two inner pockets and a waterproof vinyl finish.
“I have always loved this image – it’s classic 1970s Norman Parkinson glamour. At the time, shooting in the Soviet
Union was prohibited, so Parkinson shot Jerry in secret on the edge of the Black Sea, with crowds watching. The shot
has an incredible composition which works perfectly on this bathing beauty clutch-come-wash bag. It’s what I call a 24
hour bag – perfect to take to the beach in the summer, packed with makeup, skin and suncare, then out to dinner and
to party with, and looks just as good in your bathroom the morning after. Your ideal companion to makeup, party,
sleep, repeat with! I will wear it out with a dress and killer summer sandals and use it as a clutch – it’s like wearing a
work of art on your arm every day.” Charlotte Tilbury
