I’ve been reveling in the beauty that is the *Lipstick Queen Cupid’s Bow Pencils (currently available at Space.NK and Barney’s NY) ever since their release in late April. The pigmented and moisturizing formula, coupled with immense lasting power and a gorgeous, semi-matte finish are a welcome addition to the venerable Lipstick Queen line (also reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE).
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of all eight shades of Cupid’s Bow in action as well as the Bottom line…
Ever since Clara Bow hit the silent screen with her perfectly outlined and devastatingly seductive lips, the world has been mesmerized by the artful precision of a perfectly applied cupid’s bow. Inspired by this comes Cupid’s Bow, a jumbo pencil packed with pigment that works like a lipstick and lip liner in one.
Loaded with hydrating ingredients to keep your pout in perfect condition, these pencils give lips a velvety drama in eight shades that can be drawn on with one simple stroke. Lips are instantly saturated with rich, plush pigments and a dramatic yet moisture-rich satin matte finish. Naughty, nice and playful, with arrow-like precision…just like Cupid himself.
• Plush, powerful pigments with intense staying power and a satin matte finish • Contains precious mineral Tourmaline sourced from metamorphic rock in Brazil, known for its energizing and radiance-boosting qualities • Luxurious formulation cushions lips in comfort • Artful precision with one effortless application – glides on with intense color pay-off • Complimentary sharpener included

My schedule is insane this week as all my teaching responsibilities are coming to an end for the summer…thank you for your patience and understanding as I work my way through your lovely comments and emails ; )

** PRsample provided for review denoted by an asterisk (the rest purchased by me), however, as always, all of my opinions are expressly and unequivocally my own.
All the red ones! I'm not a nude kind of creature. I cannot pull any orangey red though, only blue-toned reds work for my skin. I love Lipstick Queen! Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the thought, Judy…I applied these shades quickly in succession and without an initial liner and when I mix my top and bottom lips, that's what I get…got to keep it authentic ; )
hi rachel!! i just love these easy, effortless looks! i love how you kept eyes and cheeks the same with such a variety of colors on the lips. i would pick the 2 lightest shades. you and this blog are so valuable for the working girl. thankyou so much!! xoxo.
Thanks for the kind feedback…I really just wanted to give an authentic depiction of the lip color so I left the other makeup the same…glad you noticed! Your support is greatly appreciated!
Nice review. Could you please let us know if you purchased these products yourself or whether they were sent to you, free of charge, for promotional consideration? Thanks
Meant to asterisk the LQ pencils to denote press sample (per my disclosure at the end of post) but forgot when typing the post last night…that's what I get for trying to finish it, whilst in bed, after a 16 hour work day (lecture and an end of year banquet), dead tired and desperately in need of sleep ; ) It's since been corrected!
I've never seen you overdraw your lips top and bottom. I recently had a makeup artist do my upper lip in a similar may saying ti soften my cupids bow was "sexier". On me it was a no-go. I didn't like drawing outside the lines 🙂 In your pics, since I am a lipstick junkie and always pouring over your latest swatches I found that on some i liked the effect, and others I found distracting (because the overdraw was ore obvious I think). I appreciate you exposing us to new looks. I love these, especialy Nymph and Ovid.

That's some incredible pigmentation. I'm leaning toward Apollo and Golden Arrow (not-so-blue-based reds aren't very flattering on me).
Million Dollar Question: do these require sharpening?
Hi TM!
Aren't they wildly pigmented?! I am with you on the Apollo and Golden Arrow choices…they cover the spectrum nicely ; )
Yes, they must be sharpened…but each one comes with their own sharpener!

Hope your week is going well, my friend!

You are so beautiful. Your liner is too much under your bottom and to lips. You are so gorgeous!
