Above: MAKE Cosmetics Face Gloss, Defining Mascara and Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire.
Sometimes one needs a shock of color to break up a routine…enter MAKE beauty. Although the Defining Mascara is a classic black and the Face gloss is, dare I say it, translucent, the matte lipstick is wildly pigmented and I have to shades to show you today that definitely challenged my pinky nude regimen!
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches, images of the products in action and my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Guide Update featuring Equipment France as well as the Bottom Line…
I have been impressed with MAKE (available at Barney’s NY and Birchbox) for quite awhile (see previous reviews HERE and HERE) and was thrilled to be able to give some of the line’s more recent releases a try:
*MAKE Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire: This lipstick is positively saturated in vibrant pigment; it delivers a lovely matte finish that has major impact without feeling dry…its velvet texture glides on lips and the lasting power is significant. The deep aubergine Jakarta applies semi- sheer but reaches full opacity in a second coat. Fire is a breathtaking bright orange that is somehow entirely wearable when the rest of one’s make up is restrained…I love this shade.
*MAKE Face Gloss: This cushiony gel is perfectly clear (read: no shimmer whatsoever) for the most naturally radiant finish to the skin known to man. Just a drop, tapped with my ring finger along my brown bone, upper cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose instantly creates an ethereally dewy glow that doesn’t feel the slightest bit sticky…absolutely brilliant!
*MAKE Defining Mascara: Jet black for lush lashes, the tapered cone of the wand allows for even distribution of the rich formula to even the tiniest of lashes.
And with this seasons-old classic button down as a pared down element of this post, I had to mention that I discovered a cache of Equipment France shirts currently marked down for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (fully detailed HERE). With early access in full swing and general access beginning on Thursday, now is the perfect time to stock up on a gorgeous crop of classics to wear both immediate and in the cooler months to come. My closet is comprised of at least 1/4 Equipment France and I am certain it will be 1/3 before this sale is over! I suggest the…
Equipment Kenton Cotton Shirt…super soft and a versatile pale blue, this shirt is the type you grab for again and again.
Equipment Major Silk Shirt…a beautiful interpretation of military style, this army green blouse is equal parts utilitarian and chic.
Equipment Signature Silk Shirt in Nude (not on sale, but well worth it)…I wear mine (purchased last season) so frequently that I contemplated procuring a backup. It is just as sophisticated with boyfriend jeans as it is with a black leather skirt…simply marvelous.

Bottom Line: Streamlined and subtle, the MAKE cosmetics line is beautifully-executed. I am loving the bold and transformative effect of the Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire and know that the luminous Face Gloss will be a staple in my handbag.
I hope your week is going well thus far…good things ahead, I promise ; )

what a stunning line! All of the shades looked amazing against your skin tone, but Fire in particular was gorgeous!
Isn't it dreamy, Maeve?! Thank you for the kind words…it took a little bravery on my end to wear Fire but it was a fun adventure ; )
