A couple of years ago, Hourglass released its decadent N.28 Lip Treatment Oil (comprehensively reviewed HERE); brimming with botanicals and emblazoned with a 24-karat gold tip applicator, this nourishing formula instantly hydrates while delivering long-lasting moisture for hours on end.
I am happy to report that in October, Hourglass will be releasing a limited-edition version of this luxe lippy in a stunning red shade, appropriately named Icon.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of Icon in action as well as the Bottom Line…
The N.28 Lip Treatment Oil in Iconfeatures all of the benefits of the original formula (detailed below) with a color-saturated sheen of brilliant red for a gorgeous pop of color. Ever a nude lip lover, I tend to shy away from bold colors as a rule, but Icon is such a universally flattering soft rouge tone that I find myself feeling entirely comfortable with the deeper hue!
Lush and cushiony, with marvelous color payoff, the sheer shade can be built to medium (nearly full) coverage with a couple of glorious coats…the neutral cherry is an instant modern classic, excellent for the cooler months ahead.
A limited edition lip oil in our Icon shade. This advanced anti-aging treatment for lips combines essential oils, vitamins and three powerful active ingredients in a supremely luxurious oil blend. Equipped with an opulent 24-karat gold-plated tip.
• Botanical oil blend works on contact to condition lips, address dryness and chapping, and shield against environmental elements. • Contains three powerful active ingredients (Saliporine-8; Volulip™; and Viamerine) that target the delicate lip area by helping to boost moisture levels, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and improve the appearance of lip shape, volume and softness. • Contains 28 beneficial ingredients to soften the lips. The number 28 refers to: – 14 essential oils: bois de rose, lavender, geranium, petitgrain, lemon, rosemary, vanilla, clove, amyris, orange, ylang ylang, eucalyptus, cedar and rose geranium. – 10 lipid-rich plant oils: hazelnut, kukui nut, rose hip, borage, olive, green tea, cherry pit, sweet almond, jojoba and evening primrose. – 4 nourishing vitamins: A, B5, C and E. • The 24kt gold-plated, anti-bacterial palladium tip dispenses product and creates a soothing effect.
• Phthalates • Sulfates • Gluten • Mineral Oil • Nanoparticles • Synthetic Dyes • Not tested on animals

Inspired by the design and color aesthetic of Hourglass N.28 Icon, I integrated my new(ish) Emilio Pucci eyeglasses into the mix. The frames are ultra-light, extremely comfortable and have a timeless feel. I am also wearing:
Bottom Line: Currently available for pre-order, the N.28 Lip Treatment Oil in Icon is a gorgeous LE addition to the perennially-chic Hourglass line. I hope you enjoyed this review as well as the dash of glasses for good measure; this severely nearsighted girl needs options and one simply cannot go wrong with Pucci ; )
Good things ahead, including a skincare update, a fresh green beauty story and a host of new fall procurements…I am also in the midst of responding to the latest batch of your lovely emails and comments. Thanks, as always, for your patience!
Well, well, well, This is something worth checking out. It has a very lovely packaging and the color is great as well. Its not too light and not too dark. It looks natural on lips. A must try indeed!
Hi! The ingredients of this product is different from the original lip oil but I realized you quoted the ingredients of the original lip oil here. May I know how was the wear time and what about the moisturizing properties? Is it as good as the original lip oil? Thank you.
Thanks for the question! I received the new Lip Oil to test in advance before the ingredients were posted so I went with the ingredients with which I had access initially (the original lip oil), not anticipating much of a difference. It's my understanding that the only difference may be the addition of the coloring as no claims of reformulation were made by Hourglass!
With regards to your question, this oil is lovely. It lasts just as long as the original lip oil (4-5 hours on me), hydrates my generally dry lips and I really enjoy the subtle red tint.
