Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending IMATS LA; my assistant Laura and I went to the Pro Night on Friday and headed back on Sunday to walk the show floor for the afternoon. From endless booths brimming with beauty to experts in the industry at every turn, this sold out event is one of the premiere weekends for those who love makeup!
Kindly scroll on for more details, a host of images and swatches from some hotly-anticipated Natasha Denona palettes as well as the Bottom Line…
Each year, IMATS LA takes place at the Pasedena Convention Center. With ample space and an array of meeting rooms for seminars and demonstrations, this is the perfect place to imbibe in all things beauty.
Before we proceed with the flood of images from the weekend, here is an overview of the makeup (and shoes!) I embraced for the day…each product was selected due to their effective performance and ability to hold up for hours on end:
Nike Sky Hi 2 in Sequoia (also reviewed HERE): I wear these tennis shoes constantly…with a 2 inch hidden wedge and hours of effortless comfort, I am now considering picking them up in other colors. Simply the best!
The following images reflect all products in action, right before heading to IMATS on Sunday!
–Shop the Look–
With the kind, generous and gifted MustaeV team…David Kang and Angela Wilson.
The Pro Night, which is reserved for Pro-Card holders and guests of vendors, is an intimate time to explore the IMATS booth in an exclusory environment, devoid of the usual crowds of the weekend. We were so thankful to be invited as guests of MustaeV USA (reviewed HERE and HERE); this gave us the chance to catch up and also get a sneak peek at some of the exciting releases for 2016.
I am excited to announce that the gorgeous Skinny Tint Foundation (reviewed HERE) will be debuting additional shades to cater to darker skin tones…this is an absolute precedent in Korean beauty lines and I am thrilled that even more individuals will be able to find their match is this cutting-edge formula
During the Pro Night, I also had the opportunity to meet the extremely warm and uber-talented Natasha Denona (Glowing Skin System reviewed HERE), whose glorious line made its stateside debut at IMATS; it is now exclusively available at Beautylish. Directly following our meeting, Laura and I were honored to attend an intimate dinner party (with fellow blogging buddies Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book and Rae of The Raeviewer) to celebrate her partnership with Beautylish. I am duly smitten with her foundation and highlighters and now am equally entranced with her insanely pigmented, ultra-velvety eyeshadows. Arriving at Beautylish later on this month, sign up for EARLY ACCESS to experience the wonder of her palettes!
With Natasha Denona at the Beautylish booth…I also picked up some of her lip glazes, which are color-saturated and delightfully unsticky…full profile soon.
The following is a close up of the *Natasha Denona Palette 28, which houses 28 matte, pearl, satin and velvet eyeshadows in the vast green and brown family…truly, this palette is a masterpiece of epic proportions and I have a detailed FOTD featuring some of my favorite shades in action, slated to go live next week.
The palette comes in a glossy white case with an enormous mirror.
I love the detachable plastic barrier which keeps the shadows from transferring to the mirror…genius.
Palette 28 has a commendable collection of neutral browns and greens for endless combinations.

When we returned to IMATS on Sunday, I was able to swatch a few of the smaller palettes (also coming to Beautylish), including Palette 02 and Palette 04…both were sold out that day, but I will definitely be picking them up as soon as they are available!

The TEMPTU booth…my TEMPTU Air review can be found HERE.
With the gorgeous VISEART founder Anastasia Van Dusen…her palettes have been staples on Beauty Professor (reviewed HERE, HERE and HERE). I get many of my Visart palettes at Frends Beauty…here I am pictured with Frends Marketing Director Matt Morelli.
Special FX makeup.
Next-level embellishment.
I met the lovely Lilit Caradanian, creator of Elcie cosmetics…I am currently experimenting with her Micro Slique Foundation in Sand (a great match for my NC 25 skin) and am quite impressed thus far. Keep an eye out for an extensive review soon!
Inglot lip color for days.
Body painting of the future.
I caught up with dear friend and makeup artist Satya Linak at the April Love Pro Makeup Academy booth and got to meet famed makeup artist and GlossiGirl creator Stephen Dimmick, His six lip color capsule collection (incidentally modeled by Satya) features a vegan, cruelty-free formula and some seriously sublime pigmentation…I’ll be sharing closeups of the nude Pushup and lush Pinky soon.
Hakuhodo brushes…always a must stop.
Anastasia Soare of Anastasia Beverly Hills…she gave her full attention to each eager customer, which I found entirely admirable.
IMATS LA had so many vendors this year that an additional building was utlilized; Hall 3 housed well over 20 lines including MustaeV, Sugar Pill and Dose of Color.
Vibrancy from Dose of Color.
Need to organize? Check out Cosmo Cube.
We ended the day with an annual dinner (including fried ice cream) at El Cholo.
Above: Laura and me at the end of the day…makeup held up like a champ!
Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this overview of IMATS LA; as always, we had a marvelous time seeing the newest launches and commisserating with like-minded makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts. If you’d like to attend, do take note that IMATS New York is coming up in April, IMATS London arrives in June and IMATS Vancouver takes place in July!
Good things ahead, including a FOTD rife with new launches (and a favorite pair of cold-weather boots), a swatch heavy feature and a host of product procurements; I am also working my way through responding to your latest round of lovely comments and emails!
Rachel you are gorgeous and thin. I would love to see you out of the wedge tennis shoes and in some of the beautiful shoes with heels available–sandals, wedges, stacked heels Etc. Time to try and something new 🙂
Thanks for your thoughts…I wore heels for so many years (and lots of standing an teaching) that I've been enjoying giving my feet a break a bit more as of late. Don't get me wrong…I still love a good heel…just not to walk around a giant exhibit hall all day!
XOXO and hope your February is off to a marvelous start,
Wonderful images Rachel! You captured everything so well and you are so beautiful and graceful! I just love the way you write. I was also interested in palettes #2 and #4 as well. Thank you for including me in the picture collage above.
