Greetings from London, dear readers! I’ve been here since last week and am enjoying combining beauty meetings with family time and plenty of sightseeing…for the latest, follow along on the Beauty Professor Instagram account. Today, I am excited to bring you sublime launches from two of my favorite brands: SUQQU and Hourglass. Brimming with sun-kissed shades and complexion-perfecting innovation, prepare to embrace summer time skin with radiant gusto.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the collections in action as well as the Bottom Line…
Covering both warm and cool color spectrums, the Designing Color Eyescomes in the rosy neutral 116 Shakuyousaand lavender inspired 117 Natsukasumi(worn in the images at the end of this post). The shades are gossamer in texture and layer effortlessly, moving from sheer to dramatic opacity in mere moments. New for the brand, each palette contains a fascinating gradient hue that allows for freedom in application and creative customization.
For cheeks, the cherry blossom-inspired *Pure Color Blush in the shade 107 Hoteribeni offers a gradient of neutral pink that moves from vibrant rose to pale peony, allowing for a gentle building of intensity that compliments all complexions. On my medium olive skin, I focus the finely-milled bright pink on the apples of my cheeks for a natural flush and blend the pale pink on my upper cheekbones for a soft highlighting effect.
For a radiant pout, the *SUQQU Extra Glow Lipstickenvelopes lips in glimmering cellophane color and intense hydration. #110 Kouki (which is designed to be worn with the*SUQQU Color Design Eyes in 116 Shakuyousa) is a peachy confection with plenty of pigmentation and little to no obvious shimmer. #111 Kouhanabi (which is designed to be paired with 117 Natsukasumand is worn in the images at the end of this post) is a brilliant medium hot pink glaze that brightens the face instantly. Both are gorgeous and forgiving (apply them effortlessly on the go without a mirror) and will flatter a spectrum of skin tones.

I also recently received the *SUQQU Nude Wear Liquid Foundation in 004 (formula review HERE) as I find it is a much better match for my NC 27 skin than #123, which is consistently my shade match in all SUQQU bases. This weightless fluid formula creates the prettiest cloak of nearly invisible coverage on the skin but I’ve noticed that the foundation applies lighter on the skin than it looks in the bottle…while this is a rare occurrence in base formulas (oxidation generally guarantees that foundations shades will deepen with time), it required me to adjust my shade choice and I couldn’t be happier with the neutral olive tones of #004. See below for comparison swatches~

Next, the Hourglass Veil Collection (also to be available at Hourglass) takes one’s complexion to the next level, masterfully blurring fine lines, visible pores and unevenness while remaining virtually undetectable on the skin. The collection consists of four revolutionary products:
*Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer(also available atNordstromand reviewedHERE): Technically not new, this highly-lauded powerhouse of the Hourglass brand serves as a potent primer and SPF, smoothing over skin and preparing it for the products to come. Fragrance-free and friendly to complexions with sensitivity (which is rare in the realm of primers), this original formula is a modern classic.
*Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder: Riffing off of the immense popularity of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders, this loose powder offers unparalleled skin refinement; a light dusting using the *Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder Brushto blend bathes skin in diamond particles for a luminous effect that resists flashback. Excellent for baking, subtly highlighting and setting makeup, this powder is a perfect match for every skin tone in the spectrum, creating traceless and seamless poreless perfection.
*Hourglass Veil Retouching Fluid in Natural: I am over the moon for this diminutive wonder that will be your makeup bag’s best friend. Sheer tinted coverage can be implemented as a light base for “no-makeup makeup” days and also works well as a mid-day foundation touch up, reviving skin (including the oft-tricky under eye region) with crease-free soft color and illumination in seconds.
The entire collection–which is rich with skincare-level ingredients–is a minimalist foundation-phile’s landscape, allowing one to craft a pristine complexion that is healthy, even and radiant.
Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this overview of the breathtakingly beautiful new launches from Suqqu and Hourglass (also to be available at Hourglass); both lines consistently release products that seamlessly fuse style and substance and these collections are no exception!
Good things ahead, including on location beauty features from London and Paris and a host of new product procurements…much to share!

The powder is AMAZING. I am debating the brush but I am not usually big on double sided ones. Storage and all.
