The resplendent BY TERRY Summer 2018 Collection (also available at Barney’s NY, Saks and Revolve) has arrived, delivering a healthy dose of sunshine and creative wash of color. From versatile palettes to two-toned lip color confections, these brilliant launches are quintessential companions to the warmer months ahead.
Shot in plenty of mid-day and golden hour sunlight, kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the collection in action as well as the Bottom Line…
The heart of the collection are the hotly anticipated *Sun Designer Palettes in 05 Hippy Chic and 06 Happy Sun (also available at Barney’s NY, Saks and Revolve). Housed in streamlined chevron emblazoned compacts with a generous mirror, these finely milled powders possess the capability to create a full face–from contour and bronzer to blush and highlighter–in seconds, making them well worth the investment. I’ve run through three of these palettes in the past few years (02 and 04 are favorites) and am just as delighted with the versatility and wearability of the new color offerings for this season.
05 Hippy Chicis a blush range of epic proportions…it contains:
A pearly pink highlight
A soft and radiant peachy pink blush
A matte pale pink shade
A glowing coral blush
A sunlit beige with a touch of shimmer
A mostly matte fuchsia
The shades can be subtle or layered for intensity, creating a gorgeous lit-from-within flush that wears flawlessly for hours…if you prefer peachy pink blush options as I do, then this palette will bring you great joy!
06 Happy Sunis a bronzer lover’s dream come true. It contains:
A champagne beige highlighter
A luminous neutral tan highlighter
A glowing apricot beige highlighter
A matte true brown contour/bronzer
A matte cafe au lait shade
A matte peachy coral tan tone
The radiant and matte shades work together to deliver the most flattering sense of warmth and depth to the face…you can sculpt and highlight effortlessly and can even use the peachy coral tan tone as a blush. It would be my earnest and unsolicited advise that you pick this one up while you still can…I, for one, will be buying a backup!
The lip color dimension of the collection–*BY TERRY Twist-On Lipstick (also available at Barney’s NY, Saks and Space NK)– is unusually lovely, boasting dualistic shades that can be applied in tandem for a defined, practically ombre look or blended together for color harmony in action. The formula is opaque, creamy and hydrating, boasting volumizing properties that make lips look lush and full.
Shade Descriptions:
01 Peach Tangerine: A peachy orange and cool pink mix
02 Rose Fuchsia: A magenta and baby pink mix
03 Pink Plum: A rich wine-meets-plum and medium warm pink mix
04 Candy Poppy: A true red and hot pink mix
05 Red Wine: A deep vampy wine and bold red mix
06 Nude Burgundy: A lush burgundy and dark nude mix
07 Latte Toffee: A russet-toned red-brown and pale nude mix
08 Cream Espresso: A true brown and medium nude beige mix
The entire lineup of the *BY TERRY Twist-On Lipstickis undeniably stunning but my favorite shade (worn in the images at the end of the post) is the lively Peach Tangerine, which indubitably embodies the best of peach and pink.
Equipment France Silk Blouse: Although this neon green number is sold out, I’ve linked to a gorgeous sage green version in a similar cut. Try tying it at the waist for a fresh twist on a classic.
Frame Le Original Jeans: My absolute favorite jeans in my vast collection, these have a higher rise and relaxed straight leg fit that look good with basically everything.
Black Slide Sandals (or splurge on this dreamy Saint Laurent pair): Clean and minimalist, my feet love this lazy option, which a definitely a step up from flip flops.
Vintage Gucci Bamboo Bag: My latest procurement, I am in love with the bamboo handles and convertible long-strap combination and it holds just enough for a day out on the town.
Last look.

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this swatch-heavy look at the gorgeous BY TERRY Summer 2018 Collection (also available at Barney’s NY, Saks and Revolve). If you missed out on the terrific Sun Designer Palettes of previous seasons, I urge you to consider picking up these limited-edition wonders as they’re all your cheeks would ever really need!
HI Rachel,
I have been reading your blog for some time but I had never posted a comment. I have to tell you, you "made" me buy all the bright-colored By Terry sun designer palettes :). And now I have a question, how similar is the Hippy chic from this season to the palette 2 Light Tan vibes from the past season???
I have medium skin tone, tan easily with olive undertones. I tried the Light tan vibes once and it look too powdery on me, like dust, because it was so light I guess. The hippy chic looks lighter than the 2 bright palettes from previous seasons. Do you think I can wear the hippy chic?..without it looking powdery?
Thank you for your help and for writing such an organized beauty blog. Beautiful pictures, beautiful you.
Thank you so much (1) for being a long-time reader and (2) leaving a comment this time! I am so glad that we share an affinity for the Sun Designer Palettes and would be happy to answer your question! Hippy Chic is definitely more of a blush-driven palette than the Sun Designer #2 and also has richer tones that will work well with medium olive skin.
Hi, could you let me know why these are priced at $55 compared to the previous editions that are priced at $82? I just wanted to know why they have lowered the price and what has changed in the palettes due to the price difference.
That is a wonderful question and one that I recently asked while meeting with the By Terry team last month in Paris. I was assured that the product is exactly the same in quality, quantity and ingredients. They merely lowered the price point to make it more competitive with the myriad of bronzer/blush/highlighter palettes that have flooded the market in the past year or two.
