1960’s Brigitte Bardot-Inspired FOTD Featuring YSL Kiss + Blush

Above: Available at Barney’s NY,  Sephora, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, the YSL Kiss + Blush formula has a matte, creamy texture that can be used to add color to both the lips and the cheeks!
Sometimes, a lip color can inspire an entire state of mind.  For this particular FOTD, I embraced YSL Kiss + Blush #9 Rose Epicurien as a springboard to the sensibilities of the early 1960’s…a soft canvas, rich cat eye and light mauve pout work to capture the brilliant stylings and bewitching grace of the peerless Brigitte Bardot.
Kindly scroll on for iconic images of Brigitte Bardot, details on YSL Kiss + Blush and my take on this 1960’s FOTD as well as the Bottom Line…
Above: Brigitte Bardot’s effortless canvas in this image guided my face and eye makeup choices for this post.
Above: The muted mauve lip in this classic shot was my goal; YSL Kiss + Blush in Rose Epicurien was a clear choice.
Above: The Kiss + Blush formula is pigmented, creamy and lush, with a soft, demi-matte finish.
Above: Rose Epicurien is a soft mauve-tinged pink…the plush, convex, doe-foot applicator is a tactile experience, indeed.

Bottom Line: I truly hope your weekend is lovely and that you enjoyed this FOTD!  Raised on movies of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, I cannot help but to reference the classic looks of those decades in my beauty pursuits…as they say, everything old is new again.

Have you shopped early access at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yet? I did!  My full shopping list can be found HERE (images of my recent purchases to follow!).  Also, for contouring tips, take a peek at the July 2014 edition of the Neiman Marcus Beauty Cue, where I share my steps to definition using the marvelous Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate.

    Hello dearest B.P,

What a stunning look! I am loving the By Terry Blackstar in Bronze Moon on your lower lids as it oozes sophistication and a little bit of sexiness:), and even though I am yet to purchase this shade I look forward to acquiring it soon. I am also loving the YSL Kiss + Blush which looks like a very versatile product, and perfect for multitasking mavens! I also enjoy a demi matte finish as there is usually a creaminess to the formula without been drying, so this looks right up my alley!

    Beautiful look as always,

Lots of love from Australia Karen xxoo

      Hello Karen!

Thank you ever so much! The By Terry Bronze Moon is my go-to for under eyes because it is dark enough to show up but not too dark as to be dramatic ; ) I am on tube #4…you need it in your life! The YSL Kiss + Blush is a true demi-matte (which is so much more wearable than completely matte formulas, in my opinion) and I love the fact that it can be used on the cheeks in a pinch!

I hope your week has been lovely…xoxo and talk soon,

You suit Bardot style perfectly! Mauvey pinks are always appealing to me and something about the hint of mauve transforms ho-hum pink to very wearable and flattering for my neutral skin. This is definitely going on the shopping list.

Oooh fun picks for the Nordies sale. As a big shoetie/bootie fan, I'm loving the cutout booties–very rocker chic which is perfect for my vibe.

    Enjoy your weekend 🙂

      Hello Wendy,

Thank you!! I've discovered that I find great inspiration in the beauty looks of the 1960's and who better than Brigitte Bardot to embody them best? If you love mauvey pinks, then Rose Epicurien needs to be in your life!

Thanks for the kind words on my Nordie's sale pics…I have already worn the shooties and have had so many questions/compliments on them…one girl even wanted to take a picture of them so she could easily track them down! In light of your preferences, I think you would love them ; )

Have a beautiful rest of the week…xx,
