By Terry Sheer Rouge: A Close Up of Nudissimo and Baby Bloom

Above: The By Terry Sheer Rouges are encased in slender silver cylinders, consistent with (but less bullet-like than) the By Terry lip color packaging.
A week or two ago, I featured a preliminary swatching of all By Terry Sheer Rouge shades (found HERE) with promises of an in-depth review of the shades that I purchased.  I am happy to report that the moment for this elucidation has come!I bought two shades: Nudissimo and Baby Bloom and their combination of bright sheer color and extreme hydration make these some of my favorites of the spring season!

Please scroll on for shade descriptions, swatches and images of them on a human face ; )
Above: Nudissimo is a semi-opaque peachy nude.

Nudissimo is a peachy nude with a complex shimmer that lends to a delightfully opaque effect (especially for a lipstick that is marketed as “sheer”).  With its signature By Terry candy rose scent, this lip color imparts a beautiful nude peach sheen that is shimmery without being the slightest bit glittery.
The application is extremely comfortable…it just glides on…and I get two to three hours of wear time between touch ups.  The hyaluronic acid it contains is designed to “moisturize, fill in wrinkles and fine lines, boost vlume and protect the lips with a glossy colored veil;” there are also UV filters to combat environmental damage.  This formula embodies the perfect fusion of lipgloss and lipstick!
Above:  Nudissimo…the By Terry Sheer Rouge formula is quite soft (note the uneven wear on the lipstick bullet) but this could be due in part to the intense moisture that it provides.

Baby Bloom is a light candy-esque peachy pink with less shimmer than Nudissimo for more of  a sheer pop of color.  Its formula and wear time are like that of its peachy sister (as well as every other shade in the line), so I will spare you the repetitious details.  The only difference (besides the coloring) is that Baby Bloom leaves a gorgeous light pink stain behind!
Above: Baby Bloom has the same ultra-hydrating and soft texture as all the shades in the By Terry Sheer Rouge line.

Bottom Line:  To be fair, Nudissimo and Baby Bloom are fairly similar in shade (as exemplified by images above) but both hold a special place in my lip color collection.  It is important to note that over time, Baby Bloom gets a bit darker and leaves a light pink stain, whereas, Nudissimo maintains its lightly shimmery peach perfection without changing.  I love the By Terry Sheer Rouge formula, and with a range of ten stunning colors, there is sure to be a shade to suit every individual’s taste.  They are translucent while still having a saturation of pigmented color, making this, in my opinion, the best high-end sheer lip color for the price point ($35)!

ohh based on names I thought I'd like Nudissimo but I'm more drawn to the Baby Bloom swatches, such a soft color! Great swatches, also….missing the sunshine and sunlight on the East Coast haha

Hello again, I'm so happy the By Terry glosses passed the test. Because the weather here on the east coast is still cold (40's) my lips have taken a worse than ever beaten! I really like the staying power of my Mac lipstick/glosses,they are very drying to my lips. I think based on your report, its time that I splurge on an ultra-hydrating formula like nudissimo. I may get the Rose debaume by terry as well to hopefully cure my parched lips. thanks again for an indepth review. Hope the weekend comes quick for u! xo

      Hi Lynn!

Yes…these By Terry lippies have most definitely passed the test ; ) I actually wore Baby Bloom all day today! The 40's…yikes, that is cold, indeed! I have heard many excellent things about the Rose de Baume and will likely be picking that up soon as well; we'll have to compare notes. The weekend is almost here!!

      xoxo and talk soon,
