Above: The Clè de Peau Beautè Radiant Fluid Foundation is the quintessential balance of a glowing and soft matte finish.
When I heard that Clè de Peau Beautè was releasing a new foundation formula as part of its Fall 2014 Collection, I could hardly contain my excitement. I already adore the Clè de Peau Cream Beautè Foundation (reviewed HERE) and was interested in how a liquid base would perform on my skin. Generally, fluid foundations that purport radiance tend to not offer as much coverage as I prefer (somewhere in the vicinity of medium, buildable to full), however, when the first time I applied the Clè de Peau Beautè Radiant Fluid Foundation (available at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Barney’s NY), I was utterly astounded at the flawless finish it imparts!
According to Clè de Peau Beautè, this formula is both moisturizing and long-lasting with subtle illumination properties. It contains:
NEW Micro Facets Technology, which allows light to be diffused from different angles.
NEW Day Matching Powder to prevent and regulate shine throughout the day.
Illuminating Complex to promote moisture stablization, reduce cellular stress, regulate cell turnover and improve the skin’s barrier function.
Kindly scroll on for more details, comparison swatches, a closeup of the new CdP LE Extra Rich Lipstick in #111, a CdP beauty look and the Bottom Line…
Above: The full ingredients list.
Since I already discussed my positive feelings about this formulation HERE, I will attempt to be succinct and focus on some clear characteristics of the foundation in terms of texture/coverage,finish, wear and overall impressions:
TEXTURE/COVERAGE:
This formula is incredibly light yet pigmented. It feels silky but not overly emollient and glides over the skin with ease.
Two pumps cover my entire face (I prefer to apply with a damp Beauty Blender). The remarkable coverage is surprising, likely because the formula feels so light.
FINISH:
Even though this formula contains the word “radiant” in its title, it is not overly glowy. In fact, it dries down with a soft matte finish and the radiance develops over the course of wear.
Although the radiance increases over time, it never crosses the line to shimmery or greasy. It is just a soft glow that looks like healthy, well-moisturized skin.
WEAR:
I get a good 6-8 hours of wear time before feeling the need to blot or touch up with a bit of powder.
For a “radiant” foundation, the lasting power is unprecedented!
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS:
I am completely pleased with this formula…it truly does diffuse light on the face in a flattering, nearly magical way while still keeping unwanted oil at bay.
After a month of trial, I can confirm that it has not in any way irritated my sensitive skin!
This is a befitting option for one seeking medium (buildable to full) coverage, a slightly radiant finish and extremely respectable lasting power.

This shade is a must for pink and peach lovers…the harmony of both tones, suspended in a plush, hydrating, shiny formula that builds to medium opacity is simply scrumptious. It is dark enough to add some color to the face but pale enough to not compete with other cosmetics in use…truly magnificent for those who adore a lighter lip.

Bottom Line: The Clè de Peau Beautè Radiant Fluid Foundation (available at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Barney’s NY) ) is superb. When my summer tan fades, I will likely transition from O30 to my usual O20 shade and am confident that this lovely, glowing formula will remain in my top five foundation rotation for months to come. Additionally, the lipstick #111 (available at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks) is the perfect, glimmering hybrid of peach and pink…such a tender delight. I have been beyond enchanted with all of the Clè de Peau Beautè Fall/Winter products thus far and will continue to highlight their gorgeous and wearable nature in future blog posts…highly recommended!
Good things ahead on BP including a skincare update, more foundation reviews and my latest discoveries. Hope your weekend is lovely!

**PRsample provided for review (the rest bought by me) however, as always, all of my opinions are expressly and unequivocally my own.
Thanks for the review, do you think this works for oily skin? Do you think the cream version or this new liquid formula is better for those with oily skin? Thanks
My pleasure! I do indeed think this works for oily/combination skin. It is one of the only "radiant" formulas that I've tried that compliments this skin type well. The cream version is equally great for this skin type…it just has a touch more coverage and a softer matte finish overall ; )
030 Looks like a really solid match for your summer skin. I was wondering how 020 differs from 030; other than obviously being lighter :). Are the undertones similar? Happy Saturday!
Thanks, Wendy…it is, indeed! I find that the O20 is lighter and a touch more yellow than the O30 (which is yellow-neutral). I will be working with the O20 as soon as my skin lightens up a touch!
Hi Rachel: Please disregard previous comment: I made myself useful–on a lazy rainy saturday– and checked out your post on the CDP Cream foundation formula and noted colour range there. Perfect. Yippee..swatches! BF20 if the shades are consistent between formulas. Thanks!!
I simply Love and adore CDP! That lipstick became my favorite pink nude right away and love those eyeshadows as well. I wear them and lipstick with CDP cream blush from holiday collection or Bliss blush from recent chantecaille release. Love new mascara from CDP as well. Foundation is a pure pleasure to use also. I am in I10 . B10 works great on my fair skin tone as well. I just wish that they would come out with a lighter shade of their famous concealer. Ivory can be a bit yellowy on me sometimes. Thank you for great pictures and review:)!
You and me both…the CdP line is exquisite! Thanks for your kind words and also for sharing your favorites from the line…the details are great for readers with a similar skintone as yours!
Sure! In short…the KGD Aqua has a similar finish to the CDP Radiant however the KGD Aqua has lighter coverage (sheer, buildable to medium) overall. Since I prefer medium coverage (buildable to full), I like the CdP Radiant a bit more!
Hi, I just tried it and I'm disappointed. I have very dry skin and have been wearing Guerlain Parure de lumiere which I love, keeps my skin hydrated all day, no cakey look or mask at the end of the day. My only concern with Guerlain PDL is that it tends to oxidize by humid weather.
Cle de Peau was a better color match than the Guerlain and no oxidation, color doesn't turn, however my skin looked and felt so dry and lifeless the second I wore this, my pores and skin imperfections showed a lot whereas the Guerlain blurs them all day. In the end, while the color and luminosity is truly beautiful, the high point of this foundation, this isn't for women with dry skin and imperfections.
I'd love to try Guerlain Orchidee foundation, but not sure it's a available in the US?
Thanks for sharing your experience, Simone…so sorry to hear this didn't work for you! Oddly enough, I find Guerlain to be more drying on my skin (feels like a higher alcohol content) than the CdPB, which gets dewy as the day goes on. Just goes to show that there are different formulas that work best for different people ; )
I would love to give the Guerlian Orchidee foundation a spin but it isn't available in the US as of yet…

Could you do a comparison between the Koh Gen Do Aqua foundation and CdP Radiant Fluid Foundation? And which do you prefer?
