My Favorite LMdB Lip Cremes!

Le Metier de Beaute Lip Cremes in Two Lips and Mum’s the Word…these came together as a part of  Haute House Hues Spring Collection “Tickled Pinks,” the result of a seasonal collaboration between Neiman Marcus’ Ken Downey and the LMdB Brand.
I picked up the Le Metier de Beaute Lip Creme Duo, Tickled Pinks, when in Florida last month…I then proceeded to wear the two glosses every day of my trip!  Since the pairing was a limited edition and I could not remember life without them, I picked up a backup on my way out of town.  The following images reveal the beauty of these glosses!
  • Two Lips is an creamy opaque peachy pink with slight golden shimmer
  • Mum’s the Word  is a bright magenta pink with remarkable opacity that adds a pop of color without being over the top
  • I love combining the two with Mum’s the Word as a base and Two Lips on top…it yields a quintessential full coverage peachy pink tone that adds dimension and life to the face.

The colors in this pairing are fabulous on their own, or combined together!

Swatches from bottom to top: Two Lips, Mum’s the Word and Two Lips combined with Mum’s the Word in direct sunlight.
Me wearing a combination of LMdB’s Lip Cremes in “Mum’s the Word” and “Two Lips”…these glosses are ALWAYS in my purse!

Bottom Line: Le Metier de Beaute’s Lip Creme in “Two Lips” is the pink peach gloss of my dreams and I am surprised how much I like a touch of “Mum’s the Word” underneath…the pairing is genius.  The gloss is not too sticky, completely moisturizes my lips and lasts longer than most shiny lip products I own (Rouge Bunny Rouge’s Glassy Gloss excepted).  As of publish date, it still seems to be available online.  I am happy that I snapped up a backup of this pair and hope that they make Two Lips a part of their permanent collection in the future…it will have pale lip color lovers all over the world swooning!

    Hi Beauty Professor!

This blog is getting dangerous for me….I just ordered this Lip Creme set from Neiman's online after I read this post!! I was planning on passing entirely on this duo, but after I read your review and saw your swatches, well, I had to have it! I thought Mum's the Word was too dark/bright for me, but seeing it paired with Two Lips pushed me over the edge. And Two Lips is utterly gorgeous.

I do like my new Laura Mercier lip creme in Rose Quartz. I saw that Laura Mercier had it on her website, too. I can confirm that it does not seem to be available at counters, or at least not the counter near me. The color is a lot like Tom Ford's Nude Vanille, with a touch more coral. It is still pretty light. It has a lot of slip, which I don't love, but can tolerate.

Thanks for the Guerlain swatches! I have heard great things about the Lingerie de Peau. I will have to give it a try sometime.

Between LMdB's foundation and Rouge Bunny Rouge's foundation, which one do you prefer? Do they have different finishes?

Finally, my favorite episode of the Bachelorette will be on…The Men Tell All episode! I don't know why, but I love watching the outtakes! I think I am the only person who loves that episode. Do you watch Bachelor Pad? I'm totally embarrassed to admit that I watch it, much to my husband's dismay!

    Have a great week!

    Hello Kate!

I am thrilled that you bought the LMdB Lip Creme set…in light of the fact that our taste in lip color is so similar, I think you are going to love the two glosses as much as I do! I didn't think that i would like anything about "Mum's the Word," but then I found that it makes a fabulous stain when applied very lightly (it is super pigmented) and it definitely adds a bit of depth to the sensational "Two Lips." My mom even bought a set after seeing mine : )

Congrats on acquiring Rose Quartz…I called a couple of my local Sephora stores, but alas, that color is long gone. I too, like lip color with a minimum amount of slip…otherwise, I feel like I have to apply it constantly. I might just order it online, but my stash of pink/peach lipsticks may revolt at the thought of a new addition. I recently got Chanel's new Fall 2012 gloss in "Caprice," which is a lovely nude pink (review forthcoming) and received a few Lip Tar tubes from the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics line, all in pinks and nudes (Hush, Interlace and Divine) which are begging for an immediate swatching session too! It is a fact: I have a disproportionate amount of pale lip products and foundation…such is life ; )

In response to your question about the LMdB and RBR foundation differences, this is what I can say for certain…both seem to offer medium to full coverage (with a natural satin finish) and both have been friendly to my sensitive skin. The LMdB line has decidedly more shade options with varying undertones (12 to be exact) to guarantee a strong match, whereas, the RBR has only five shades. The Chesnut Milk Parfait shade in RBR is a great winter and spring match for me (@NC 25), but is too pale in the summer and the next shade up is too dark (there is a huge jump from one to the next at that shade level). However, to be fair, I am currently mixing two shades in the LMdB because #7 would be touch too light on its own (@NC 25-27) and my body would have to get more sun than it should for me to end up solely wearing #9 (@NC 35). Who knew foundation could be such a complex issue!

I like both foundations as slightly more opaque, fuller-coverage alternatives to the Koh Gen Do Aqua but think they are strikingly similar in terms of wear and finish. Because the LMdB matches me better right now, my RBR is taking a little break, but I do see myself going back to wearing it in the winter. I am also trying the Ellis Faas foundation (found at Sephora) in L 103 and L104 (which is the best match for me right now), which is somewhere in between the KGD Aqua and the LMdB/RBR in terms of coverage–it does seem to have a more luminous finish than all three, however. I think I have just settled on the fact that I will always have a few favorite foundations in the rotation…if you can find a good match, I don't think you can go wrong with either the LMdB or the RBR if you are seeking a bit more coverage than the KGD offers!

I cannot wait for the Men Tell All episode, either! It is always fun to watch the dynamics after the cast has been watching the edited version of the show…that's when it gets slightly real ; ) I will say, now that Sean is out of the running, the finale will be a bit anticlimactic for me, but I know I will still be watching. I regret to admit that I do indulge in the strangely entertaining Bachelor Pad…my husband reluctantly watches it with me, even thought we both know it is total rubbish!

Have a wonderful weekend and talk soon!

    Warm regards,

    Hi Beauty Professor!

My Haute House Hues Lip Creme duo came and I am asbolutely thrilled with it! The package came and I literally ran off to the bathroom at work to apply it. I love both colors, actually, which surprised me. They are so great for summer. I like them each on their own, and I love them blended. The only negative thing is that my Two Lips Lip Creme smells a little off, but when it is being shipped around the country in 100 degree heat, I guess I should not be surprised. The smell goes away after a few seconds, so nothing that would deter me from wearing it! Thanks again for your post about these colors – I am so glad I didn't miss out on them.

Thanks for your thoughts on the RBR foundation and the LMdB foundation. I, too, like to rotate my foundations, although my KGD has been my go-to for months now. I think as the weather gets a little cooler, I may switch things up.

Also, I have to thank you yet again for a wonderful post that is going to inspire a purchase! I have been searching for a very cool pink blush, and after seeing your post on the LMdB Creme Fresh Tint in Mystique, I have found it! I already own one in Poppy, so I love the product. I didn't even think to look at their Creme Fresh Tints for a cool pink. The color looks absolutely gorgeous. I wear Poppy on my lips a lot, and I am excited to try to do that with Mystique.

Ah, the Men Tell All….I think it is clear that Sean may be the next Bachelor. He certainly had a lot of crowd appeal. I am really excited to see Bachelor Pad to see both Chris and Kalyn (sp?) in action. I don't like either one of them, but you know they are going to bring the drama.

    Have a great week!

    Hello Kate!

So pleased to hear that you are happy with the LMdB lip cremes…I love trying on my new purchases right away, too! I agree that there is an interesting scent…kind of like vanilla meets creme brûlée, and I have read that some find this scent different than the other lip creme shades. I am guessing that is all and that nothing is amiss with yours!

Also, so glad that you found the Mystique to be of interest…it is definitely a cool pink on the cheeks…almost like a delicately tinted highlighter. I love combining it with Mum's the Word on the lips…a perfect lilac pink that lasts forever; I do, however, need to make sure my lips are moisturized when wearing this pair because I don't find the Creme Fresh Tints to be particularly hydrating on their own (at least as lip color). Poppy is really pretty too!

That would be amazing if Sean was the next Bachelor…so classy…but he may be too respectable to give the Bachelor franchise the risqué footage that they are always seeking. Bachelor Pad should be a rousing drama fest indeed…I will be watching despite my better judgement!

I will have some new pale lip color swatches up soon (from the OCC line) and would love to hear your thoughts on them!

Have a fantastic rest of the week : )
