Ever since college, I have been a fan of Asian skincare and cosmetics. I payed my way through both undergraduate and graduate school by modeling and doing commercials and, more than a few times, ended up working with Asian clients who would come to the US to shoot their projects. It was those moments that whet my appetite for new, unexpected and difficult-to-procure beauty products.
|
Above: An example of my work with Asian clients, in this case, Japan’s Ginza Magazine. It was this shoot that opened my eyes to all things Shu Uemura! |
|
My eyes would glaze over with wonder as the makeup artist revealed one Asian-centric product after another; often, I would pepper him or her with questions about its specific purpose and where I could track down one of my own. Of course, the ease and accessibility of the Internet has radically transformed that process, making the ability to discover new products from far off lands as simple as a click or two.

One wildly interesting and absurdly easy way to expand one’s exposure to Asian beauty products, specifically best-sellers from Korea, is the through
Memebox, a “buy as you want” service that curates themed boxes of the hottest skincare and beauty from Korea at a very reasonable price. This month’s collaboration is
Coffee Break With Dani (of YouTube fame)
X Memebox; released on August 20th, it features seven full-sized products and one sample-sized item to give you a distinct taste of Korean beauty, all for $23.
|
Above: The Coffee Break With Dani X Memebox is limited edition! |
I am still experimenting with these products so a full review would be premature, however, I will give you a one sentence first impression under each of the images that follow! The Coffee Break With Dani X Memebox is extremely limited so if you are interested, I suggest procuring your own before this particular installment runs out.
Kindly scroll on for product images and first impressions as well as the Bottom Line…

Above: Seven full-sized products and one sample-sized item…all neatly nestled in a mint green box. |
First Impression #1: How do the products fit in this box so perfectly? Can whoever was responsible for this please do the same thing for the clothes in my dressers?
First Impression #2: This box contains a little bit of everything…from skincare to nail care to foundation.
|
Above: Golden Glove Exfoliating Glove. |
First Impression #3: I adore exfoliating gloves and use them in the shower daily…was just about to buy a fresh pair since I switch them out every couple of months. Perfect timing!
|
Above: Prori Aroma AC Moisture Gel Mist. |
First Impression #4: The idea of misting moisture on to the face is intriguing…and the packaging is the prettiest, no?
|
Above: Kokostar Nail Therapy. |
First Impression #5: As someone who struggles to keep her nails healthy (painting them takes a major toll on their strength and length…blame it on personal chemistry), I appreciate the aim of this nail mask. Trying it today!
|
Above: Dewytree Ginseng Nutritious Black Tea Mask. |
First Impression #6: I have sampled a few sheet masks in my time, but never a black one…challenge accepted.
|
Above: Nuganic Customize Sunblock SPF 50. |
First Impression #7: SPF 50 sunscreen with completely physical (rather than chemical) protection. I’m always on board with physical sunscreen and will test this to see if there is a white cast and/or flashback in pictures.
|
Above: Miguhara B.P. Cream. |
First Impression #8: Is it shallow that I instantly liked this primer cream because of the iridescent tube in which it is housed? It’s seriously stunning. Onto the cream…it’s lightly tinted and claims to balance oil production!

|
Above: Chamos ACACI 1992s Snail Repair Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream with Whitening Effect. |
First Impression #9: Snail extract has been an unexpectedly hot skincare ingredient for a while now (for more on this, take a peek at my review of the Napoleon Perdis BBB Beauty Booster Cream). This eye cream feels, dare I say it, extremely slippery, and I suspect that the cushiony effect will be a dream to apply to fatigued eyes.
|
Above: A swatch of the Snail Repair Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream…silky indeed. |
|
Above: Hanksin Bio Origin Royal Ampoule BB. |
First Impression #10: I had no idea what this was at first glance but was delighted to discover that it is a serum foundation. It contains skincare benefits and SPF 30 and should be a good match for my post-summer skin. Looking forward to giving this little gem a spin when the time comes!

Bottom Line: Memebox is a marvelous way to be introduced to top Korean beauty products, all with the peace of mind that they have been carefully selected for maximum quality! Inexpensive and endlessly interesting, this is a must for beauty lovers.
Have YOU tried any Korean beauty products? If so, what are YOUR favorites?

This is such a cool box, I don't know any of the brand or products!
Reflection of Sanity
Isn't it?! I love how easy this box makes it to discover new products from distant (or not-so-distant, depending on where one lives) lands!
Hope your weekend has been lovely…xx,

Shoot! This one is sold out, but there are other very interesting ones 🙂
Did you get dinged with any custom taxes? (Just curious)
Thanks!
Trish
