Armour Beauty Glosses…A Close Up

Often times, there is excellence is specialization.  Case in point: Armour Beauty.  This independent, niche beauty line has but a single product…lip gloss.  The creative brainchild of model and rocker Theo Kogan, this lipgloss formula is undeniably well-executed.  More pigmented than any gloss I have encountered (and I’ve encountered, ahem, a few…hundred, that is, at conservative guess), it comes in a plethora of gorgeous shades and finishes (both opaque and shimmer) and lasts for hours upon hours, all the while keeping the lips moisturized, healthy and juicy.  It’s truly a perfect gloss!
Kindly scroll on for additional details, images, swatches and the Bottom Line…
Cruelty-free and environmentally friendly, Armour Beauty gloss comes in over 25 shades with new releases always in the works.  As a rocker, Theo craved a gloss that would stay on through a spirited performance and Armour Beauty is the culmination of this desire.  Named after some of Theo’s favorite songs (e.g., Dreaming and Purple Rain), clubs (e.g., Cat Club) and iconic performers (e.g, Edie and Ann-Margaret), this lip gloss embodies an edgy aesthetic coupled with endlessly wearable colors and one of the most impressive formulas on the market.

Prior to this review, I have already mentioned my love for Armour Beauty (specifically Hello and Edie) in a blog post and video and am excited to now give you a closeup look at this indubitably lovely lip gloss.  Lightly scented with a soft, sweet, almost lemon fragrance (which I love), be forewarned…this gloss is on the stickier side.  That being said, I actually prefer its slightly tacky nature because I attribute its stupendous lasting power (easily 4-6 hours without a need for touch ups) to this particular texture.  It is completely hydrating…my perennially dry lips actually feel better after a full day’s wear with this formula and the pigmentation in the Opaque Collection options is utterly insane.  One coat and my lips are enveloped in full coverage, intense impact color that is glossy and gorgeous.

Above: Swatches of all five shades in natural light.
  • Edie (Opaque): a nude beige with rich, neutral leanings…named after the Factory Girl herself, Edie Sedgewick.  Pale without washing out the face…a lovely nude option.
  • Hello (Opaque): A creamy, bold bubblegum pink that is an ode to both Hello Kitty (yes!) and 1960’s Hello magazine.  It hasn’t left my purse since December!
  • Gypsy (Shimmer): Named after the song by Fleetwood Mac, this is a soft sheer peach with gold shimmer…nearly clear on my lips, the complex micro-particles give it a liquid light effect.
  • Candy (Opaque): A cool lavender that is an ode to icon Candy Darling; this is a must for those who love light purple.
  • Ann-Margaret (Opaque): A bold yet creamy coral named after iconic red head (and one of my favorite actresses!) Ann-Margaret.  Bye Bye Birdie, anyone?

Although they are stunning on their own, I cannot help but practice my own kind of makeup alchemy and mix the shades together to create new ones; the images below exemplify the results…

Bottom Line: I am so pleased to have discovered the wonder that is Armour Beauty.  As one who adores lip gloss, this line offers the most delectable options, with one of the most pigmented and stalwart formulas in existence.  It is my personal belief that nude lovers need Edie in their life while pink devotees need to procure Hello immediately!
Have YOU tried Armour Beauty?  Thoughts?
The Makeup Show LA is this weekend…do you have plans to attend?  I hope to see my West Coast beauty lovers there!!

I'm really interested in these. I love how they don't look muddy when mixed.

Good observation, Erin…yes, they maintain their color integrity when mixed, which is rare! Highly recommended!
