Mondays can be challenging, especially in the wintertime when it’s cold outside and waking up one’s alarm after a (hopefully) restful weekend is jarring to say the least! To help mitigate a case of the Monday blues, here is a visual-intensive overview of some sunlit accessories, a make up storage idea and details on one of my favorite outfits, or, should I say, uniforms ; )
Kindly scroll on for more details and images as well as the Bottom Line…
Before we go any further, here is an image of Jethro…he always brings me great cheer!
ACCESSORIES // Tiny details can make a profound difference…here are some key pieces that tie everything together:
Ferragamo Silk Scarf (also available at Neiman Marcus, Farfetch, Luisaviaroma and Bergdorf Goodman): I have a penchant for collecting Ferragamo silk scarfs (simply the best, in my opinion) and this giraffe version, courtesy of my brother, is my latest addition. I keep this scarf in my purse at all times and find that it comes in handy as an impromptu belt, hair accessory and warmth generator (as worn in the image below). The silk is dense and luxurious and the patterns that Ferragamo boasts are transcendently lovely…such a worthy investment!
Henri Bendel cuff: This rose gold and garnet number works well with my “mixed metal” approach and though this exact model is sold out, there are a variety of brand new Henri Bendel cuffs for spring that you may want to take a peek at. Timeless and well-crafted, I am never disappointed with my Henri Bendel pieces.
Carner Barcelona Voyage Set Tardes + Rima XI: Featuring two travel-sized fragrances in a pristine white box, this set from niche Spanish perfume house Carner Barcelona is stunning. Tardes captures the sun-baked relaxation of a warm summer afternoon while Rima XI is a soft and slightly spicy musk blend that feels sophisticated and chic. You can also find Carner Barcelona on Amazon
Girlactik Face Glow in Lustre (reviewed HERE): Radiance in the most delicate rosy lilac tone can be achieved with this beauty from Girlactik. I use it on the high points of my face to create ethereal luminosity rather than a glittery effect. The sheen is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!
Ela Rae Stone Choker: Intricate and handcrated, this adjustable choker features semi-precious stones for a gorgeous pop of color. Rarely a minimalist when it comes to jewelry, I prefer to layer mine with other favorite chokers (see below) for an eclectic effect.
RMS Nail Lacquer in Luminizer (reviewed HERE): One of my favorite nail polishes of all time (and I am not much of a “nail girl”), this pearlescent lacquer perfects nails in a single coat, making them look clean, bright and polished while still being entirely low-maintenance.
MAKEUP STORAGE // I recently had the opportunity to try the *MelodySusie Large Cosmetics Organizer. This multi-tiered acrylic box features four drawers and a removable top tray for a spectrum of organizational options.
The drawers open smoothly and are deep enough to hold beauty products of all sizes. Although I have dozens of acrylic boxes in my house to store my collection, this singular box now successfully houses all of my makeup “go-to’s” that I reach for each morning when getting ready before work.
Sturdy and well-made, I am seriously thinking about adding a couple more of these to my organizational menagerie…they are that good!
Official details:
MelodySusie new collection luxurious cosmetics organizer – a new and fashionable beauty box with high quality

Enter code MS1636OF at checkout (valid till Jan 18, 2016).
The drawers have removable mats to keep drawers clean and products secure.
A tiered approach.
The drawers open easily and are deep enough to hold a host of products.
The top tray is removable, creating more room for stacking.
This organizer is a fantastic addition to my bathroom makeup storage.
A FAVORITE OUTFIT // When it comes to style, I am generally a creature of habit…jeans, button downs and comfortable shoes with a bit of height…here is a breakdown of one of my recent favorites (makeup details follow), worn during a 12 hour day at Disneyland:
Equipment Slim Signature Shirt in Whisper: I have well over 20 of these blouses, thereby making them heavy hitters in my wardrobe. I love having a collar peek over a crewneck sweater for a classic look.
Topshop Girly Crewneck Sweater (also worn HERE): I wear this camel color sweater constantly…it’s thin yet warm and feels complete timeless.
Nike Dunk Ski Hi 2 in Sequoia: These deep olive green trainers feature a hidden wedge and versatile color scheme for an ultra-comfortable and endlessly wearable pair of shoes. You can walk miles in these gems without the slightest sense of foot fatigue…brilliant!
I am immensely pleased that these Nike Dunk Sky Hi 2’s are not sold out yet…I wholeheartedly recommend them so much that I think I will also be picking these up in black.
Above: Last look.

Bottom Line: I hope you found this post uplifting and entertaining and would love to know what accessories, makeup storage ideas and clothing you’ve been loving as of late…do share!
Good things ahead including yet another foundation feature and a host of new product procurements…I am also still working through comment responses ; )
Hi Rachel. I recently organized my makeup in the lucite drawers and top organizer similar to yours making it a delight to sit and get ready for the day. I purchased the organizer at TJ Maxx and I think I will get one more set. Love the scarf and the other offerings in this blog. The casual outfit is darling and the location of the pic FUN. Thanks for making my Monday morning inspirational!
hi rachel!! january in cincinnati! you'd think i'd be used to it now! although as i get older it is getting harder to endure snow and everything that goes along with it. jethro!! wow, he looks like he's getting bigger! probably my eyesight…he's adorable as ever, i can look at his picture and it's resort season here! the ferragomo scarves are beautiful. i love scarves. i used to remember wearing their flats and wedges and they were wonderful. i'm not a "nail girl" either. i like the rms shade. i've read about the makeup artist who developed the line (can't remember her name). i'm a bit surprised that not 1 salon here carries her line. i also really like that melodysusie for makeup storage. we have a very small topshop area in nordtrom. i really like their tops but find that i wear different sizes depending on the style. i continue to rely on uggs especially for work. i like to have separate pairs for work and for the weekend as they get pretty beat up "chasing my munchkins" all day. accessories, for me, are aprons! and, i look for really cute ones for work, which is hard to find. all of them say kiss the cook!! turtleneck or pullover, black jeans, uggs and an apron over that is pretty much what i'll be wearing to work this winter. my makeup "stash" is not as large as one would think. i have a clear container similar to the one you have just not as big. on my "radar" for clothing is something from moschino's fall collection with the teddy bears. it would be so great if i could find a moschino apron with the teddies all over and, with pockets (so important and handy)! i hope your week is going well. i definitely get by reading your posts!! xoxo wendy. p.s. i ordered the troy surratt new shadow. hope your enjoying yours!!
I hope your week is going well. Thanks for all of your wonderful feedback!! Reading your detailed comments are always a highlight! Speaking of turtlenecks, check out the ones from Vince at Nordstrom…they are so soft and comfortable!
I love this look! Your accessories look great also. Can you tell me what designer/style your handbag is? I've been looking for a cute crossbody that isn't too small. Thanks! ~ Heidi
Thanks so much!! The purse was made by my brother (www.sethwegter.com) and is one I use constantly. It holds so much! Let me know if you have any other questions!
You have a great eye! I received mine as a gift and it is currently only available in the UK (but it won't ship the US)…it should officially launch in the US in March!
