March Madness: Marc Jacobs Social Butterfly, Fresh Edward Bess + By Terry Launches and Shopbop Sale Recommendations

Happy March to you, lovely readers. I hope your month is off to a marvelous start! Lately, I’ve been thinking that I’d like to deem 2016 the “Year of the Eyeshadow Palette.”  Up until recently, I haven’t been particularly drawn to palettes as they seem to offer more shades than I could possibly use and, while I have never been opposed to excess in the option department (especially when it comes to beauty) when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I’ve generally embraced a “less is more” perspective.  That being said, my sentiments have dramatically changed in the past few months as I have encountered a number of eyeshadow palettes with which I am smitten.  One such example is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Social Butterfly Palette, which is a Neiman Marcus exclusive.
To complement this discovery, I am combining it with some gorgeous springtime releases from Edward Bess and By Terry with a dash of Shopbop style (it’s the Big Event sale!) thrown in for good measure!
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as Shopbop style suggestions and the Bottom Line…

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Social Butterfly Palette.
Exclusive to Neiman Marcus since the in-store and online launch of the brand earlier this year, the *Marc Jacobs Beauty Social Butterfly Palette is a neutral-lover’s dream come true.  Housed in a streamlined compact that truly is a breeze to carry in one’s handbag, the seven eyeshadows are finely-milled, velvety smooth and long lasting with exceptional color payoff.
Shade Descriptions (in my experience):
  • Matte cream
  • Matte light sable brown
  • Shimmering topaz bronze (my favorite, hands down)
  • Shimmering muted orchid
  • Shimmering rich taupe brown
  • Matte chocolate brown
  • Shimmering metallic-flecked black
I apply the shadows without a primer and find that I get hours of creaseless wear with little to no fallout or fading.  This is the first Marc Jacobs Beauty eyeshadow palette I’ve tried and I am duly impressed; each shade in the palette performed with equal excellence and this particular combination of hues is sure to compliment a spectrum of skin tones.  Social Butterfly is a palette worth procuring!

Edward Bess All Over Seduction in Paradise.
This past weekend, the *Edward Bess All Over Seduction in Paradise finally launched in-store and online.  This resplendent highlighter is the third shade option in one of the most gossamer light formulas (also reviewed HERE) on the market.  Unlike the champagne-meets-pearl Sunlight (of which I’ve run through 2 compacts!), Paradise has a pinky peach sheen that doubles as a light blush while being a killer highlighter for darker skin tones.
Luxuriously scented like fig, only the tiniest amount of this ultra-chic illuminator is needed for maximum impact; I love using my ring finger to gently dab this over a light bronzer for a flushed, lit from within result that is neoteric and endlessly pretty.  This blush-meets-highlighter hybrid is an unequivocal must!

By Terry Mauve Moon.
The By Terry Baume de Rose Nutri-Couleur in Mauve Moon (also available at Barney’s NY) instantly caught my eye last weekend.  This limited-edition spring shade is a striking violet which could initially prove daunting to those adverse to bold shades.  I must stress, however, that Mauve Moon is much more wearable than it may look in the pot.
Already a massive fan of the soft pink Rosy Babe (reviewed HERE), I knew that Mauve Moon was going to be mine the moment that I swatched it on my wrist.  Smooth, silky and shiny with the most gorgeous luminosity, this cool-toned lilac pink looks so lovely on the lips.  One swipe creates sheer coverage with just enough pigmentation for a polished effect.
The formula is intensely hydrating, long lasting and wears comfortably for hours…I highly suggest pursuing Mauve Moon before this LE gem disappears for good!

To complement the lush purple, coral and neutral hues of the new releases in this story, I opted to include some skincare and beauty favorites.  Here is a breakdown of all products used:

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this post, brimming with fresh beauty and style for March!  The Marc Jacobs Beauty Social Butterfly Palette, Edward Bess All Over Seduction in Paradise and By Terry Baume de Rose Nutri-Couleur in Mauve Moon are simply gorgeous to usher in the spring and I’ve already placed my modest Shopbop order (shoes! swimwear! blouse!) and impressively saved nearly $50 at checkout…too exciting.

What has caught YOUR eye in this story?

Good things ahead including my cleansing routine, a swatch-heavy feature of the new Jouer liquid lip color and (gasp!) yet another eyeshadow palette-centric feature!

xx

Rachel, what a stunning color combination of Spring colors on you. That Charlotte Tilbury foundation looks glowing, is it? I am very curious about it. The mauve lips are great. I, too am very excited for the new looks for spring. That body glow also intrigues me. Thanks for making my morning coffee fun. You look fabulous!

Eyes & cheeks are stunning! You do neutral combos on eyes all the time but this one really captivated and complimented your eyes in an exceptional way. The same comment applies goes to the cheeks and the application of glow. . . Well done!
