The end of August means many things: back to (some form of) school, wildly hot weather in much of the world and, for us beauty enthusiasts, fall makeup launches galore!
I have put the *Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Fluid Foundation Matte SPF 20(also available at Nordstrom) to the test for the entire month of August and I find myself loving it more (is that even possible, in light of my existing affinity?) with each passing day. If you’ve read BP for any length of time, you probably know that CdPB consistently creates foundations that I adore and this new launch is no exception. I like to think of myself as a purveyor of “glower” bases on the whole, but this matte version–which really is more of a fresh natural finish on me–couldn’t have come at a better time as we’ve been experience record heat and humidity here in Southern CA.
Benefits
The luxe and weighty square bottle (destined to be the centerpiece of one’s vanity) features a pump dispenser and navy and gold styling aligned with the classic elegance of CdPB. Rich and nourishing (yet surprisingly lightweight), the formula itself offers medium-to-full coverage with skin care benefits and a gorgeous matte finish that, paradoxically, leaves skin looking multidimensional and, dare I say it, softly radiant. I deeply appreciate the way my pores and fine lines are instantly blurred upon application and the lasting power of the foundation is impressive…I get 8-10+ hours of touch up-free, transfer-resistant wear, even on a steamy day.
One pump is more than enough for the medium coverage I prefer and, upon distributing it with a damp beauty sponge (my application technique of choice…especially when pressed for time, which is always), I am in awe of how even, balanced and healthy my complexion looks. It’s truly a “my skin but better” base that polishes the canvas without looking the slightest bit overdone.
Significant coverage, yet entirely natural looking…matte, yet multidimensionally radiant…long-lasting yet lightweight and breathable…this is the foundation of the future and the future is now.

Skin-Empowering Illuminator enhances skin’s ability to defend itself against different types of stress for radiant skin.
The *Clé de Peau Beauté The Concealer, ever the subject of epic praise, has extended its shade lineup with six new shades tailored to complement olive, tan and rich complexions. The concentrated cream (a little goes a long way) effortlessly covers imperfections and dark circles while resisting creasing or migrating, resulting in perfected skin that looks healthy, fresh and moisturized.
I have worn Almond to brighten my under eyes for years but, since being introduced to the new hues, have found an ideal match in Buff, which still possesses brightening power, while being the most seamless match for my olive skin. Those with deeper skin tones will love the versatility that Hazelnut, Toffee, Nutmeg, Cocoa and Espresso provide. They are long-awaited additions, welcome with open arms!
I blended one pump of this skin-perfecting elixir all over my face with a beauty sponge for medium coverage with a natural finish…no setting powder needed. BF 50 is the shade match I never knew I needed; it works so well on my medium olive skin, never pulling orange or yellow…just a true golden that doesn’t oxidize.
I swept this concealer along my lower orbital region to banish the darkness that results from many deadlines and little sleep. It, as always, worked like a charm…as aforementioned, Buff is my new match. It’s perfection for medium olive skin.
These buttery new powders from Sisley are so utilitarian. Sandy is a medium beige that I used on my T-zone to preemptively strike shine and I used Bronze on the hollows of my cheeks and perimeters of my face to add depth, structure and warmth to my complexion. The formula is finely milled and extremely skin like (read: no shimmer or powdery finish) yet somehow manages to leave everything looking airbrushed and inordinately smooth. I can’t wait to continue to creatively play with these gems but am already getting lots of use from them in my daily routine.
My constant companion and brush of choice for the application of all powder products, I used it to blend both my bronzer and blush for this look. This brush is five years old and still going strong!
This epic eyeshadow launch is unlike anything I’ve ever tried. Lightweight, concentrated, fragrance-free, crease-free, waterproof and futuristically duo-chrome, the shades dance with light, dramatically shifting color as one moves. Even if one prefers a more subdued result I find that daytime looks are completely achievable with both Infra-Nude and Dragonfly–I did a full work-appropriate look with these two shades and my fingertips in less than 30 seconds this week–and the other color options are simply stunning. If you’re on the line about trying these, I implore you to give at least one a spin; they are limited edition and I’d hate for you to miss out on the opulence of light and color that is Natasha Denona Chromium.
This brand new mascara is a dream! Instantly lengthening and voluming, it creates fluffy lashes via a tubing formula that doesn’t smudge or flake while creating a false lash effect. I love how long it lasts and how easy it is to remove…just a bit of warm water on a cloth and you’re good to go.
I can’t wait for this luminous beige shade to be restocked; in the meanwhile, I will sparingly apply it my brow bones (as done below) for an ethereal glow.
I love this long lasting liner more with each passing day…sometimes, I just wear it alone (no transfer yet somehow not the slightest bit drying) for lips that persist and it, of course, pairs perfectly with pinky nudes as worn below.
Entranced by the color-drenched balm-meets-lipstick allure of this new launch, I ordered this without swatching it (such a luxury is rare these days, no?) and am just as pleased with the glossy neutral as anticipated. The lip color is buttery with rich cellophane color payoff that adeptly harmonizes pink, peach and beige for a gorgeous take on an Autumnal nude. In the images at the end of this post, I applied a single coat for plenty of color and shine.
The following images reflect all products in action in natural light…
Joey, living her best life applying $72 concealer on her mom. To be fair, she can say the word “concealer” and she has an excellent sense of placement.
Body-conscious but not overly tight, this ribbed cotton sheath is opaque yet breathable and and pairs just as well with a sweater as it does with a bikini top.
I am having a minor dalliance with ivory…it feels so fresh and light and there’s nothing quite like a creamy neutral cardigan to brighten (and warm) up an outfit, no?
Good things ahead, including a Labor Day beauty spotlight, with a roundup of some of the sales that I’ll be shopping, a new video tutorial and a host of fresh launches that are currently in my testing queue. Cannot wait to share!
