Casual Style + Low Key Makeup for an Emergent Spring

Above: Casual spring style.
The unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having in Southern California as of late has allowed me to embrace some fresh spring style a little earlier than anticipated.  In turn, I am thrilled to share some of my latest acquisitions…clean, classic and entirely fitting for both work and leisure, I hope you enjoye this style + makeup post (with a preview of the Neiman Marcus Beauty Event GWP thrown in for good measure!).

Kindly scroll on for more details, closeup images, a beauty rundown (with some Dior and Bobbi Brown newness) and the Bottom Line…
Above: Classic comfort…a cream button-down doesn’t go out of style.
Outfit Specifics
  • An off-white Oversized Classic Buttondown…I cannot get enough button downs and this generously cut cream version is timelessly chic (a size small ).
  • Peyoza Parachute Down Pants…comfortable, classic and perfect for work and play.  The army green shade goes with everything from bikini tops to silk blouses.
  • Eileen Fisher “Sport” Platform Sandals…I adore every pair of Eileen Fisher shoes I own and these cushiony leather sandles strike an apropos balance between casual and making an effort.  Like the preceding two garments, I’ll be wearing these for months to come!

Above: The Eileen Fisher platforms have a zipper back and ultra soft leather straps.
Above: The 2 inch platforms adds height without straining one’s feet…magnifique!
Above: The pants are roomy but run true to size (I am wearing a 2).
Above: With the green version of the Eddie Borgo-designed Neiman Marcus Beauty Tote GWP (more details below).
Above: Brimming with samples from lines including Oribe, YSL, Lancer and Amore Pacific, the Eddie Borgo bag is a marvelous nod to the spring season.
Here is a lightning quick preview of the latest Neiman Marcus Beauty Event Bag (running 2/18-3/1/15 and free with a $125 or more purchase in cosmetics/fragrance).  Designed by Eddie Borgo, this perforated rubber bag is the quintessential combination of chic and utilitarian.  Filled with samples from lines inlcuding Oribe (love the Gold Lust line), Lancer (I just repurchased The Method: Polish…so good) and Amore Pacific, this bag comes in a soft sage green (pictured), muted coral and cream gray.
Above: Geometric perforation + flexible rubber = the most unique GWP bag ever.
Above: Those that spend $500 or more will also receive this Eddie Borgo wristlet.  Love it.
Onto the skincare and makeup of the moment…
Above: Beauty + skincare for a low key look.
Product Rundown

Above: Skincare essentials as of late.
Above: The Bobbi Brown Browns Eye Palette is a lovely mix of 3 matte shades and 1 soft shimmer (Stone).  I like to wear Cement and Stone on my upper and lower lids, smudge a touch of Espresso along my upper lash line and blend Ivory up to my brown bone.  This quad is invaluable!
Above: Swatches of all four shades in direct sunlight…creamy, pigmented and resistant to creasing!
Above: Face products to subtly perfect…I have actually hit pan on my Bronze and Glow
Above: The brand new Dior Brilliant Rouge features a diveted doe-foot applicator and the most lusciously hydrating
Above: A swatch of Bonheur in direct sunlight…no shimmer but plenty of shine.
Above: Applying Bonheur to the lips…this formula is a marvelous mix of cushiony hydration and gorgeous pigmentation.
Above: Bonheur (with a touch of Hourglass Eden as a liner) on the lips…the soft baby pink has just enough pigmentation to flush the lips.
Above: Swatches of all products in direct sunlight.
Above: Beauty + skincare last look.
The images that follow reflect all products in action on the face…

Above: All the reports from this season’s New York Fashion Week support the fact that “unbrushed” hair is very on trend…I, for one, am wildly happy to embrace this movement!
–Shop the Post–

Bottom Line: I hope your week is off to a lovely start and that you enjoyed this spring style + beauty hybrid post.  What is the weather like where YOU are?
Good things ahead including new product procurements, a sneak peek at the Space.NK GWP bag, an overview of my current Omorovicza routine and a recap of the Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills beauty floor opening.

Hi BP! Feel like its been forever since I've posted. Just ordered at Neiman also and can't wait for the tote! I have been recently obsessed with the Lamer loose powder. I can't seem to find a finishing powder that I love & it seems to be the 1 that keeps the glow & is undetectable. Also trying le metier cheek tint in coral nymph! 1 of your old favs in another color I believe. Couldn't resist a Tom Ford lips &boys either! We had our 4th blizzard here in a month! So jealous your gettn warm weather sooner. We have no room to put anymore snow! What else to do but shop for beauty! 😉 xoxo

      Hi Lynn,

Such a treat to hear from you, my friend! I am so excited for you to receive your tote (you probably already have it now). I've heard such good things about the La Mer loose powder and really need to try it. LMdB Coral Nymph is brilliant and Mystique is also wonderful. Which Lips and Boys did you choose? I cannot believe they are LE and almost sold out now. Oh…I hope your blizzards subside…sending warm weather your way!

      xoxo and talk soon,

It's so cold in here! There's a winter advisory and they cancelled classes after 5 so I am in bed with my computer and a chocolate. Not bad! But the early morning wind was arctic cold and it took a toll on my ears. I look yellow-white with cold-burnt-red-cheeks but in good spirits.
You look summery and golden, as always!
Cannot wait for the good things coming ahead!
    Happy week,

BP, you look lovely as usual. I loved this post. I always love reading about your FOTD and your picks at beauty events. I would like your opinion if you don't mind I am trying to decide between the Neimans GWP and the Saks GWP. What do you think. If I could I would get both. I do know I'd spend way too much if I were to get both. Thank you.

      Hi Amanda!

Thank you ever so much. In terms of your question am partial to the actual bag from the NM GWP as I think it is more unique than most free bags and will be perfect in the summer as a cute tote.

      I hope that helps…xoxo,

Those sandals – love!! I was also delighted to hear about the Neimans GWP. I need to order my 3rd(!) Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge (yes I am in love with this product!). I wrote them last night though, because I need shade #1, and it's backordered, that's fine. But they show it as 1oz. at $175, which is the same price as the 2oz. Isn't that strange? (it's always been $125) I don't mind paying that much if I'm going to get the 2 oz because I love this product so much but they wrote back and said yes, this was the new price as of this spring. *sad face*. Sorry, just can't justify it. Do you have any recommendations to a product similar to Peau Vierge I can try? I truly value your opinion.

      Hi Laura,

Thank you so much!! That is awesome that you are on your third Peau Vierge! I can't believe the news about the shade #1 being $175 for 1 ounce…I am off to investigate further as that seems ponderous.

Some similar products include the Sunday Riley Effortless Primer (though it is not quite as luminous) and the Jouer Luminous Skin Tint (which offers a bit more coverage than the PV). Will keep thinking!

Hi BP, After I wrote you, I went back to the NM web site and they changed the price back to $125! Maybe they realized their error, esp. after I wrote them about it. Yay! Got it ordered, plus the Le Metier de Beaute Obsidian Odyssey Eye Shadow Kaleidoscope Palette, and the new Tom Ford nail polishes. Tried to contain myself as I went a little nuts with the SpaceNK ordering I did on the same day. 🙂 Thanks for writing and giving me alternatives to the PV though, never know when I may need them!

      Hi Laura,

That makes me so happy to hear! I couldn't imagine that kind of price-differential for a single shade. Well done on pursuing the issue and getting them to correct things!

I so hope you love the Obsidian Odyssey Eye Kaleidoscope as much as I do…I still use it weekly…so good.

xoxo and have a lovely week,
