Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss…Swatches and Review of Nude, Peony and Bare Rose!

Above: Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Nude and Peony.
My discovery of the stunning Jouer beauty line took place midway through the summer and I have been systematically working my way through reviews of its plethora of products.  Today’s post is dedicated to the Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss, a radiant combination of non-sticky texture, lush color and extreme hydration.

Above: Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss is housed in a lovely lucite-like square case.
Retailing for an incredibly reasonable $20, I had the chance to experience the loveliness of three pinky nude shades absolutely at home in Beauty Professor territory: Nude, Peony and Bare Rose.

Above: The full ingredients list.
The formula, dispensed by a flocked doe-foot applicator, is delightfully non-sticky; however, there is enough texture and viscosity present to ensure that the gloss does not slide off of the lips into oblivion.  There is no discernible fragrance and, due to its hydrating properties, it wears comfortably for 3-4 hours without the need for touchups.  It doesn’t settle into lip lines, instead leaving my lips balanced, luscious and full.

Above: Nude is a semi-opaque light beige.
Nude is a true beige-based and nearly shimmerless hue that offers a neutral look without washing out the face or pulling pink or brown.  It is creamy and semi-opaque in two swipes…tonally, it reminds me most of Tom Ford Ultra Gloss in Naked, but it is less shimmery and slightly darker.  It is also a touch darker than Le Metier de Beaute Lip Creme in Bloom, though both shades share a prominent light beige hue.  Of the three glosses I tried, Nude is the most opaque on the lips.

Above: Peony is a bright, cool pink with violet undertones.
Peony appears shockingly bright, almost fluorescent, in the tube; however, this cool baby pink (with no perceptible shimmer) is surprisingly wearable due to its semi-sheer texture.  The cool undertone helps it to convey an almost violet vibe that I adore.  In my experience this unique pink is the sheer lip gloss equivalent of Kanebo Sensai Vibrant Cream lip color in Ususakura, an equally bright violet-tinged pink.

Above: Bare Rose is a medium nude rose with a sheer texture and minimal shimmer.
Bare Rose is the sheerest and darkest of the three glosses I tried.  This is a quintessential “my lips but better” shade that offers a nude rose pop of color with a single swipe.  Due to its neutral tone, Bare Rose feels less dramatic than Nude (which gives the perfect 1960’s pale pout) and certainly more restrained than Peony (whose bold pop of violet pink is endlessly pretty).  That being said, it is an excellent choice for workplace makeup and leisurely weekends alike, when a sophisticated slick of rosy shine is what moment requires.

Kindly scroll on for swatches of all three shades as well as images of Nude + Peony on the lips…

Above: I appreciate the fact that the color one sees in the tube is exactly the same once swatched.
Above and below: In these images, I am wearing my favorite Jouer lip gloss combination of Nude with a bit of Peony thrown in for good measure.  These shades in tandem create the perfect shiny pinky nude lip color!
Bottom Line: The Jouer lip gloss formula is utterly beguiling…packed with pigment, it’s silky, hydrating and ultra shiny on the lips.  For the most delicate and luminous pinky nude pout, the combination of Peony and Nude cannot be beat.  Highly recommended!

Oh my…thank you, Lynn! I can't tons of credit for innovation when it comes to mixing lip color…in my sea of pink and nude options, my lip mixes are always generally some form of pink and nude…likely an addiction…I should probably seek help ; ) I hope you had a wonderful Monday!

      xoxo and talk soon,
