Happy Summer to you, friends! I wrapped the spring semester, started teaching two summer public speaking courses online and just returned home from a week in the desert…to say I hit the ground running would be an understatement.

A Week in the Desert

While traveling last week, I had some incredible family time, interesting meetings for Académie Hair and even did a live on-air QVC segment for BY TERRY Tea-to-Tan (a lifetime favorite) from my hotel room, which was exhilarating. I also got a scratch on my cornea, which resulted in multiple days of swelling and no contacts, only glasses, in the blazing heat. If there’s anything I’ve learned in my adult life of being mom and while having 3 separate careers (brand founder, beauty writer and college professor), it’s to be wildly and abundantly flexible these days.

A Meaningful Opportunity

Since starting Académie Hair (read here), I’ve been getting more involved in the founder side of the beauty industry with CEW and was honored to serve on a committee that helped co-craft the 2026 Indie Report with a focus on haircare. A Few Style Notes

Finally, I ran around to some events yesterday and wanted to show you this outfit because it’s classic, timeless and simply put, I love it. Slowly, I’ve tried to integrate nothing but natural fibers (cotton, silk and linen) into my wardrobe while removing polyester and the like. It’s been an expensive process but my body truly notices the difference.
