On Thursday, February 7th, I attended the Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills Trend Event; this evening of food and fashion was focused on the impending arrival of Spring and all its offerings! There was a fashion show featuring menagerie of bright and pastel shades from celebrated lines including Emilio Pucci, The Row, Trina Turk and Rubin Singer, whose coral draped coat gave me a serious case of the wants.

After the fashion show, my mom and I headed downstairs to the beauty department to explore the new offerings of the season…fortuitously, the Le Metier de Beaute counter had just received the new glosses (two Lip Cremes and two Sheer Brilliance formulas) for spring and I promptly swatched everything like a mad woman. The venerable LMdB Director of Color, Mikey Castillo was also there, which made for utterly delightful insight and conversation!
|
Above: The new LMdB lip glosses for Spring 2013 come in both Lip Creme and Sheer Brilliance formulas. |
1. Moroccan Sunset (Lip Creme) is a rich, opaque medium nude with warm shimmer.
2.
Pink Berry Creme (Lip Creme) is a warm strawberry pink shade with a pronounced golden sheen. I’ve read that it is very similar to a previous LMdB release, Cebu.
3. Pink-e Promise (Sheer Brilliance) is a bright and creamy medium pink with no perceptible shimmer. It is actually quite opaque and reminds me more of the Lip Creme formula than the Sheer variety.
4. Coral Rose (Sheer Brilliance) is a warm coral with multidimensional shimmer. It is similar to yet less opaque and pink than Two Lips and would look lovely alone or over an existing lip color.

My mom and I couldn’t help but pick up a few items while there…she chose the Lip Creme in Moroccan Sunset and the Indelible Inks Liner in Artemis (reviewed
HERE). Never one to turn away from pink, I selected the Sheer (though, as previously mentioned, not-so-sheer) Brilliance gloss in Pink-e Promise and Indelible Inks Liner in Castella (because I am so impressed with
Artemis).

We then proceeded to chat with Mikey about everything under the sun, though, after a satisfying round of makeup talk (for a bulletproof effect, try smudging the the Indelible Inks liners over the lid for a shadow that will NOT budge!), our conversation chiefly centered on our mutual love of classic cinema. From Now, Voyager to Imitation of Life, we ran the gamut of glamorous films that effortlessly embody and transmit pathos and formidable style. This exchange might have gone on for hours had the store not closed at 8!

Bottom Line: The Neiman Marcus Trend Event for Spring 2013 was a fantastic evening…the fashion show featured the very best of spring offerings and our visit with Mikey Castillo at the Le Metier de Beaute counter yielded great bounty, both through gorgeous spring products and warm and riveting conversation. The Neiman Marcus Beauty Event, which always offers an amazing tote filled with beauty samples as a gift with purchase, begins on February 21st. If you are not near a Neiman Marcus and want to order something directly from the store, the number to the Beverly Hills location is (310) 550-5900.
I will be picking up my third bottle of LMdB
Peau Vierge…what will
you be buying?

*Holding a paper bag over my face* breathe, breathe just breathe…Ohhhhhh! What a WONDERFUL day! And to share it with your beautiful Mom is icing on the cake.
Ok, I just "bought" the mauve trench, the NUDE JACKET, and the Ruben Singer jacket (Oh my LORD they are stunning). You are changing my life girl!! Those liner inks – who could decide between THOSE colors? Holy moly.
Ok, back to reality for me. I just filmed my "review" of the Hourglass Dim Ambient Light and brush I received yesterday. Mmmm, they are really nice. I compare it to the Guerlain Meteorites. I'd love to put it up right away, but Friday is my usual upload day. (I'm so excited about being cutting edge in SOMETHING.) LOL.
Love you and your damn blog to pieces. Well, I shouldn't swear, I have no budget at all for those incredible pieces, but boy, do I ever have the Wants and you are exposing me to the Finer Things. Keep it up! I'm working on my education still!
Love you to bits, Susan
Hi Susan,
Thank you for your generous and energetic words! It was a super enjoyable evening to spend with my mom, indeed! I am so glad you "bought" the jackets…I did too ; )
I need to check out your video about the Hourglass powder…I just bought it in Diffused Light and Dim Light and am loving them both so far.
I hope your Valentine's Day was simply divine!
xoxo and talk soon,

I love the coral/pinks this years.
Is the liner tip the same as the Lancome Artliner tip?
Hi Gail,
I agree…I always gravitate towards coral and am thrilled to see so much of it this season! With regards to your question, the Indelible Inks have a very thin brush applicator. If you do a search for "Artemis" at the top right hand section of my blog ("Search This Blog"), it will take you to my review and there are pictures of the brush there!
Take care and Happy Valentine's Day!

This looks like a fun evening. I definitely think you should do a collective swatch of all your LMdB glosses- I have only one lonely one!
Hello Makeup Remastered,
It was indeed! I love your idea and will work on it for a future post! Which LMdB gloss do you have?
Have a wonderful week…xoxo,
