10 Favorite Mascaras for National Lash Day & a Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation FOTD, Feat. Newness from Surratt Beauty + Le Metier de Beaute

Happy National Lash Day, lovelies! Who knew?!  I don’t know about you, but my makeup routine is never full complete without a couple of coats of mascara.  This beauty staple always makes me feel like I look more polished and awake and I often find myself hastily adding this final touch (while fully stopped!) at a signal on my way to work in the morning.  The transformative outcome makes the challenge of applying in under a minute well worth it!
Consequently, in honor of the “holiday,” I am excited to share 10 favorite mascara formulas; additionally, this post includes a FOTD-style preview of the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation and closeups of new launches from Surratt Beauty and Le Metier de Beaute.
Kindly scroll on for my top 10 mascara list, image-heavy closeups of the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, fresh shades of the Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush and the newest Kaleidoscope (Brigitte!) from Le Metier de Beaute as well as the Bottom Line…

Because it is an item that I wear daily, I love experimenting with different mascara formulas…my eyes are sensitive (contact wearer!) and battle seasonal allergies, so when a mascara works well without causing irritation, I am over the moon!  Some of my most recent favorites include:
  1. Mally Eyelash Micro Fiber Lash Primer: This fiber-packed primer (worn in the images at the end of this story) is jet black and adheres to lashes so fallout or migration is not an issue…it truly makes a noticable difference in my mascara routine!
  2. *Surratt Beauty Relevee Mascara and Lash Curler (reviewed HERE)
  3. *By Terry Growth Booster Mascara (reviewed HERE)
  4. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara (reviewed HERE)
  5. Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes: A modern classic for volume and length galore.
  6. *It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (reviewed HERE)
  7. *Physician’s Formula Doll Lash Extension Kit (reviewed HERE)
  8. Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara: I love how wide open and alert this makes my eyes look.
  9. Tom Ford Extreme Mascara (reviewed HERE)
  10. *Clé de Peau Beauté Perfect Lash Mascara (reviewed HERE)

To complement National Lash Day, I paired the Mally Eyelash Micro Fiber Lash Primer and It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara with a new foundation from Charlotte Tilbury (to officially launch in the US on Monday 2/22!), fresh blush shades from Surratt Beauty and the latest kaleidoscope from Le Metier de Beaute.

Heavy and blended swatches of shade #06.
The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation has been feverishly anticipated since its debut in the UK last year.  Now, Beautylish is offering early access to the formula, which is should be available on 2/22 for those who sign up in advance.
This fragrance-free foundation boasts respectable medium coverage with a demi-matte finish that perfects the skin while still looking entirely natural.  It plays well with sensitive skin and seems to work well with a variety of skin types, neither translating as overly dewy nor overly dry.  I have had the luxury of experimenting with it for the past couple of months and am impressed by how well it holds up throughout the day…all in all, it is worth the wait!

I am working on swatching all available shades in the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation but in the meanwhile swatched shade #06 (perfect for NC 23-25 skin) along side four other formulas with similar coverage (medium) and finish (demi-matte) and tone (@NC 25).  They include:

On February 15th, the venerable Surratt Beauty line launched a gorgeous set of six Artistique Blushes, currently exclusive to the brand new Barney’s NY Chelsea location…if you decide to call for them directly, let them know you saw the swatches on Beauty Professor!
“In creating these colors, I was inspired by the juxtaposition of angels and devils, and the idea that we all have a bit of both in us. After all, just like people, makeup can be naughty or nice! It’s important to have a few options in your arsenal to match your mood!” –Troy Surratt
*Surratt Barneys Chelsea XO Shades:

Flammé, a fiery orange, conjures up images of a devilish fallen angel (hey, nobody’s perfect!).
Barbe a Papa, a sugary pink so sweet it just might give you a tooth-ache.
Chérubique, a glistening rose as innocent as a mischievous cherub.
Angélique, glowing, heavenly peach perfection.
Halo, a golden highlighter shade, will bathe your cheekbones in divine light.
Coupe de Genie, a universally-flattering, stroke-of-genius highlighter.

I am particularly smitten with combining the rosy Cherubique with the iridescent pink Barbe a Papa for a healthy and glowing  cheek…these blushes are gossamer light with significant color payoff and lovely lasting power…so brilliant. More on these gems soon!

Le Metier de Beaute Brigitte Kaleidoscope.
Up next is the latest *Kaleidoscope from Le Metier de Beaute.  Appropriately named “Brigitte,” this chic combination of pigmented and highly wearable shades does not disappoint!  It includes:
  • St. Tropez: A pale and creamy beige, excellent for a base shade
  • Seduction: A cool, satin finish gray
  • Liberte: A stunning shimmering copper
  • Deux: A matte charcoal black

This was actually a gift with a purchase of $350 or more during last week’s Neiman Marcus Fashion Trend Event but I am told that many Le Metier de Beaute counters may still have stock and be able to include it as a GWP.

My suggestion would be to call your local store directly if interested…I will also update on this post if I find out that it becomes available online in the coming days.  It is so beautiful and unique that I sincerely hope that it does!

Rachel, what a lovely look you have created with those eyeshadows. I love the blushes. How versatile. With my green eyes, I am always on the lookout for a yellow. I wonder if that would work? You look stunning, as always. Thanks for all your research and Happy Lash Day to you!
