FOTD: 6 Things That Got Me Through the Week

Above: Simple pleasures from Byredo, Truffle and Compartes.
This week was a challenging adventure to say the least; I battled my way through the remainder of a sinus infections (good times), relentlessly long teaching hours and a host of blog-related (!) evening events, but with the weekend ahead, I feel like I emerged victorious.
The FOTD that follows (taken early this morning before teaching) includes some key skincare and beauty items upon which I have been relying heavily lately as well as 6 new products that, dare I say it, helped to get me through the week.
Kindly scroll on for more details, images and the Bottom Line…
Above: The full look.
Products Worn:
Above: The Le Metier de Beaute Obsidian Odyssey Eye Kaleidoscope…easy to work with and entirely unique.
Above: Daily delights.
…and onto the 6 products…
(1) Truffle Clarity Clutch…this lovely gift from my dear friend Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book is equal parts gorgeous and practical.  From the leather trim to the sturdy clear construction, tossing in my essentials into this chic clutch has become a daily ritual.
(2) Byredo Parfumes samples in Inflorescence (a refreshingly sophisticated floral), Bal d’Afrique (marigold, cedar and Paris in the 1920’s ) and Mojave Ghost (pictured in the clear vial…this sweet, musky floral has an inexplicable note of fruitiness that makes me want to buy the whole bottle ASAP).
(3) Compartes Chocolatier Beach Sprinkles by Gray Malin…this butterscotch confection (also a gift from Sabrina) is brimming with rainbow sprinkles and a sweet-meet-salty taste that lifts the spirits in mere moments!

Above: YSL Nude, Indeed.
(4) YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #22 Nude Indeed: This silky balm-like wonder yields the most stunning veil of soft peachy-mauve-tinged beige.  The formula is hydrating and relatively long lasting and this shade pairs so well with the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk for a shiny nude lip with immense lasting power.

Above: The CdPB Luminizing Face Enhancer is undeniably opulent and imparts the most delicate golden sheen.
(5) Clé de Peau Beauté Luminizing Face Enhancer in #12 Gold: This highlighter miraculously helps me to feign a rested look, especially when utterly sleep deprived.  Finely milled and not the slightest bit “glittery,” this is luminizer for grown ups; the mosaic pattern is breathtaking and I love swirling the different hues together for a customized look.  Brushed gently along my cheekbones, brown bones and down the bridge of my nose, it truly delivers life to the face!

Above: CdPB Radiant Powder Foundation…excellence on every level.
(6) Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Powder Foundation in O20: I’ve been experimenting with this powder for the past couple of weeks and can now confirm that I am completely smitten with this new formula.  The buildable coverage seamlessly blends into the skin, offering virtually invisible, absolutely pristine coverage that blurs pores and imperfections.  It renders skin to a state of satin-matte gloriousness while simultaneously enhancing radiance; there is no powder finish whatsoever.  Truly brilliant and well worth the investment!

Above: The CdPB Radiant Powder Foundation brush is luxuriously soft and distributes the powder evenly so that it becomes one with the skin.

    My darling BP,
I need some of the chocolate in order to keep myself going as well. What is it with the body this month of February! I hope you are feeling better and that sinus infection is leaving you for good. Let me add here that you have feigned a rested face perfectly because your make up is and canvas are as impeccable as always!
Those CdP powders are too intriguing. I had the "brilliant" idea of ordering the Tarte Amazonian powder foundation since it is so highly raved. To my face's texture dismay it didn't work at all. It looks powdery while accentuating pores that were invisible to the eye before :/
Happy V day to you, your hubbie, and the handsome Jethro!

I know…this month has been a bit of a challenge, indeed! Thank you so much for the kind compliments. I am still using the CdP powders like crazy and have definitely needed the extra reinforcements this week with Jethro's situation.

Hope your Sunday is beautiful, my friend…xx,

Hi beauty professor I always watch out for your reviews both in YouTube and your blog. You just have the best suggestions and reviews out there!
I am on the hunt for a powder foundation for a while now and have been on the look out for the by terry and Burberry powder foundations you have suggested in your previous reviews but the Cdp caught my attention you look flawless I was wondering out of the three what you would suggest I should get ? im looking for a powder foundation that would have coverage and lessen the appearance of pores particularly acne scars the deep ones unfortunately I am cursed with those pesky things. I am looking forward to your response and appreciate all your suggestions. So thankful we have you?Wishing you all the best!

That is wonderful to hear…thank you. I am very much impressed with all three powders you mention, but I find that the new CdP and Burberry powders offer the most coverage with Burberry offering the most. It will also depend on your color match…the CdP powders are great for light to medium skin tones and Burberry offers a few more options on the darker end of the spectrum. Burberry gives a porcelain finish and the more I type, the more I think this will be your best choice ; )

Hope that helps…xoxo and keep me posted!

I love the color of the YSL lippie. I'll need to remember it as it's a peach nude I might be able to pull off due to the hint of mauve.

That chocolate looks divine! I keep the Charlotte Tilbury pencil in Pillow Talk and her lipstick in Bitch perfect as makeup bag staples and adore them- I use them all the time. I was delighted to place my order for both a clarity and privacy clutch this week after Truffle restocked some colors. I've seen them on the Beauty Look Book blog and can't wait to use them to organize my tote! You beauty bloggers are the best!

Hi! I hope you're feeling better after some rest, medicine, and the Valentine goodies you listed in this blog post. I, too, am recovering from sinus troubles and upper-division math midterms (yeah, my school obligations wouldn't let me quarantine myself either since my professors don't do make up exams – no pun intended). My nose and lips are chapped from blowing my nose and mouth breathing (ugh) and I was wondering, what are the most emollient lip and face moisturizers you've used the past week?

Thank you so much…I am finally feeling back to normal ; ) I hope your sinuses are as good as new as well. Upper division math midterms sound horrendously impressive…I am sure you got through them like a champ. In terms of face moisturizers, I love the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm for intensely dry areas and the La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Oil to supremely moisturize.

Hope that helps…xoxo and talk soon,
