Luxury Central: Fresh Foundation Shades from La Prairie, New Lip Color from Tom Ford + Discoveries from Iconic London, Oribe + Sara Happ

Luxury central.
Back in 2012 (!), I started Beauty Professor with luxury beauty at the forefront of my brain; nearly seven years later, and opulent products are still my focus. Today, I am excited to share three new shades in one of my favorite foundation formulas, the*La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation (previously swatched and reviewed HERE).
Additionally, I have seven new shades of *Tom Ford Lip Color to show you and can’t wait to reveal a fascinating set of brushes from*ICONIC London, a gift-worthy Oribe set, a lip plumper from Sara Happ and some style elements thrown in for good measure.
Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…
*La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation in Warm Beige, Satin Nude and Golden Beige.
Recently, *La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation (previously swatched and reviewed HERE) expanded its shade lineup, introducing three new hues that cater to the varied undertones of medium skin. As a general rule, this foundation consistently finds its way into my top five formulas due to its skincare benefits, impeccable natural coverage, friendliness to sensitive skin and long-lasting performance.
For the past couple of years, Amber Beige has been my best match, blending seamlessly with my N/NC 27-30 skin for most of the year. I started receiving reader questions about “Satin Nude” and “Golden Beige” about the same time that I noticed Amber Beige was no longer on the Nordstrom site. La Prairie confirmed that some of the medium shades had been redesigned to meet skin tone needs on a global level and graciously offered to send the newly updated Warm Beige, Satin Nude and Golden Beige so I could include them in my swatch catalog
Warm Beige is excellent for NC 23-25 skin while Satin Nude works for N/NC 27-30 skin and Golden Beige is perfect for NC 25-27 skin. Currently Satin Nude is a befitting match (see images at the end this post for how it looks on my skin) but I may move to Golden Beige when winter hits and my skin is at its absolute lightest.
I hope you find the swatches below insightful…truly, this foundation is exemplary; let me know if I can help you in determining a match!

A side-by-side comparison of La Prairie Nude Satin (my current match) with my classic (yet, now soon-to-be-discontinued) match, Amber Beige. Both work well for NC 27-30 skin.
A worthy splurge.
*Tom Ford Lip Color
In what seemed like a beautifully covert manner (I love makeup surprises), Tom Ford released new  shades in the permanent collection in both matte and cream finishes. My latest *Tom Ford Lip Color and Matte Lip Color (also available at Beautylish and Neiman Marcus) procurements include:

  • *Naked Ambition: A pale nude beige; it’s lovely for a super subtle look or to lighten an existing lip color shade.
  • *Erogenous: A peachy nude…very Valley of the Dolls.
  • Paper Doll: A perfect cool pink with plenty of opacity and a reasonable amount of shine.
  • *Sugar Glider: A mauve-nude cream…perfect for fall.
  • *Discretion: A lush aubergine…vampy yet wearable.
  • *The Perfect Kiss: A strawberry cream hue that works on a spectrum of skin tones. I am fast becoming a die-hard proponent of this shade. **Worn in the images at the end of this post
  • *Foxfire: A vibrant orange-red that flatters olive skin tones.

*ICONIC London Ultimate Face Set

I became familiar with ICONIC London when I visited the UK in September and have since  become increasingly intrigued with its strong beauty offerings. Replete with 12 rose-gold brushes that embody the a beguiling balance of style and substance, the *ICONIC London Ultimate Face Set comes in its own blush nude case for portability.

The vegan brushes are extremely soft and blend makeup like a dream; I am particularly partial to the fluffy tapered powder brush and medium angled shader, though all twelve perform at maximum levels!

Keep an eye out for my review of the ICONIC London Illuminators next…they are stunning, indeed.

*Oribe Dry Styling Set
Excellent for keeping one’s tresses fresh and full, the *Oribe Dry Styling Set includes the gold standard in dry shampoo and texturing spray. Apropos for gifting, this set is infused with the legendary Oribe fragrance (I am mentally transported to somewhere in the South of France with every spritz) and extreme performance.
The invisible dry shampoo refreshes hair without weighing it down and texture spray is brilliant for adding movement and volume to limp locks. The power pair is well worth the pursuit!

// THE COMPLETE LOOK //

  • *La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer + Foundation in Satin Nude: Just a quarter-sized amount–blended with a dampened sponge–provides medium full coverage that lasts all day.
  • *Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light (reviewed HERE): I am still over the moon for this weightless and glowy bronzer…it adeptly contours and adds warmth and simply cannot be overdone.
  • *Tom Ford Illuminating Duo in Reflects Gilt (reviewed HERE): I am on compact #2 and likely will pick up a third…swept along the high points of my face, the peachy golden glow is radiant yet natural.
  • *Natasha Denona Chroma Crystal Top Coat in 04 Peach (also available at Sephora and reviewed HERE): Still on heavy rotation, this luminous peach hue performs well as an all over wash of waterproof, incandescent color. I suspect it will forever be in my makeup bag.
  • *Gucci Smoky Impact Eyeliner in Iconic Black: I wear a swipe of this along my lower water line nearly every single day and still have barely made a dent in this pencil…Gucci Iconic Black for life.
  • *Chantecaille Full Brow Perfecting Gel in Dark (reviewed HERE): Each time I wear this new brow formula, I am continually impressed by how well it depends and defines by brows, adding long-lasting volume and hold…so good.
  • *IT Superhero Mascara (reviewed HERE): Two coats, per usual, for long, full and fluffy lashes.
  • *Sara Happ Lip Airbrush Plump and Prime: I am so taken by this lip product; don’t let the look confuse you. Although it may appear to be a nude gloss, it truly is a primer that makes lips look smooth. I struggle with dry lips that show texture so the first time I applied this new formula, I was stunned by how airbrushed they looked. My lipstick goes on like a velvet dream and the plumping effect, though subtle, is apparent. It also extends the life of my lip color, keeping my lips from drying out or flaking over time. It is truly superb!
  • *Tom Ford Matte Lip Color in The Perfect Kiss: This strawberry shade is SO outside of my comfort zone but I am very impressed with it; in a red-meets-rose with magnificent opacity, this (technically) matte formula leans towards a creamy finish, wears evenly and lasts all day. I also love that its vibrance allows me to wear minimal makeup on the rest of my face.
  • *Oribe Dry Styling Set: I am an every-other-day washer and this luxe duo keeps my hair feeling clean while adding texture that ultimately contributes to more volume and dimension. It’s invaluable pairing for those seeking the best that haircare can offer.
  • *VotreVu Bebe Duette Lip Balm + Tarte d’Amande Hand Cream: This genius moisturizer duo hydrates while smelling divine and the adorable lip balm on the top cap further enhances its utilitarian nature.

*Jeffrey Campbell Kovacs Flared Heel Bootie
// STYLE NOTES  //

  • *Equipment France Adalyn Silk Shirt in Soleil: On major sale, this gorgeous silk shirt possesses just the right pop of color while still being entirely wearable.
  • *Jeffrey Campbell Kovacs Flared Heel Bootie: I picked up these booties late last week and am duly smitten. I rarely purchase boots in shades that aren’t black or tan but this olive pair–with its 2 1/2-inch wood and Lucite heels–was calling my name. The leather is super soft and and buttery and they are wildly comfortable with a fresh yet vintage, 1960s flair. In terms of size, they seem to run small; I typically wear a 7 and found the 8 to be a perfect fit so bump an whole size up!
