Makeup and skincare on the go.

With summer in full force and travel plans on the calendar, I’ve been searching for a new travel case to organize and protect my skincare and makeup while away. I finally found one I love…keep reading to see what makes it special and how I plan to pack it for my next trip. Additionally, I also have swatches of EVERY shade of the magnificent Monika Blunder Beauty Blunder Cover!

Summer Travel Files: How I’m Packing My Skincare + Makeup

// THE TRAVEL CASE //

The Miami Travel Tortoise Organizer holds a great deal while still being relatively compact. I really like that the entire unit is lightly insulated, waterproof and easy to clean, which offers peace of mind as it potentially bounces around one’s suitcase. Comprised of one large case with three separate cases within, there is room for endless customization.

I prefer to put my skincare in the largest zip case (which rests at the bottom) and use the two smaller cases (which rest on top) for makeup items. It’s truly a perfect situation and the tortoise design is so chic! To illustrate how I will use this on an upcoming vacation, I packed it with a sampling of the items I plan to take…

For a trip to a hot and humid environment (where I’m headed next…any guesses?), I’m including the *Clé de Peau Beauté The Serum, which smooths, refines and prepares my skin for all other skincare to come and the Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream (for moments when additional moisture is necessary). To control excess oil while making pores nearly invisible, the *Clé de Peau Beaute Pore Refining Mattifying Veil is excellent and the *Odacité SPF 50 Mineral Drops provide potent sun protection in a lightweight, blendable and slightly glowy formulation that my skin appreciates. For fragrance, *Maison Francis Kurkdjian Gentle Fluidity Silver is elegantly gorgeous for both day and night and I always have a handful of Slip Scrunchies  (truly nothing better in this category) hand for both Joey Elle and me.

When traveling, I tend to bring products that have predictable (in the very best possible way) and effortless wear. For foundation, the Monica Blunder Beauty Blunder Cover is divine. It comes in a vast range of 20 shades (keep reading for swatches) and features a fragrance-free, clean yet nourishing ingredient profile and creamy, customizable coverage that can be applied sheerly or built up to concealer-level. It imparts a skin-like finish, resists creasing and lasts for 8+ hours, even in warm temperatures!

My best matches are 4.25 and 4.5 and lately, I’ve begun experimenting with lighter and darker shades in the range to highlight and contour and the possibilities are endless! This formula is made by a professional makeup artist for other professional makeup artists while still being extremely user friendly. Rarely does such a high performance product strike this utilitarian balance!

For concealer, I have recently returned to the exceptional *Sisley-Paris Eye Concealer, which blends skincare with glowing coverage that truly brightens the orbital area. I use the apricot toned #2 when I really need to tackle dark circles and #3 for more traditional purposes.

To contour and add warmth to the face, I’m really having a moment with the Gucci Bronzer #3, which is velvety smooth and wears like a dream. For cheeks, the Guerlain Terracotta Light Healthy Glow Bronzer #3 Medium Warm imparts a warm coral hue and just the slightest bit of radiance so you can skip highlighter if you’re so inclined.

Finally, for eyes, I embraced a peachy pink color story that includes Tom Ford Golden Peach eyeshadow (my holy grail shadow shade…if I could only wear one for life, it would be this), a swipe of Tom Ford Brow Gel in Taupe (so glad this is finally restocked), BY TERRY Eyeliner (it’s completely indelible, even on the waterline) and the BY TERRY Lash-Expert Twist Mascara, which I have used for years for the longest, fullest lashes.

For lips, I continued the summer flush with the warm and long lasting MAC Boldy Bare liner (not new but new to me and SO good), Gucci Matte Lipstick in Cornelia Pink (dries to a velvet finish with sensational lasting power) and a swipe of the ultra shiny Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in Mist, which is a creamy pink beige.

I love a good matching set and this one from Free People (wearing a size 6…runs TTS) is so aligned with summer. The cotton fabric is lightweight but opaque and the lace front detailing on the flared shorts feels fresh and carefree. I paired the set with some neutral mule sandals to keep it simple and elongate the leg.

Bottom Line:

I hope this story provided some helpful insight for packing beauty and skincare and that the Monika Blunder Beauty Blunder Cover swatches were an immense resource! Let me know if I can provide any color match suggestions.

Good things ahead, including a travel beauty story, a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping guide (yes, it’s almost that time again), a fresh video tutorial and brow and lash intensive…cannot wait to share.

In the meanwhile, I post daily content on my Instagram and LTK shop…please make sure to follow me there, too.

Stay strong, seek wisdom, much love and more soon,

xx
