FOTD: Featuring Giorgio Armani Holiday 2016, Nine Lip Magnet Shades + House of Sillage

The holiday collections are in full force and, in light of this reality, I have a brand new palette, fresh lip color formula and opulent fragrance to share in the context of a complete Face of the Day.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and (of course) images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line…
FOTD components.
To create the neutral + pink-driven look at the end of this post, I used the following products…

The *Giorgio Armani Light and Shadow Eyes and Face Palette.
At the center of this face of the day is the breathtaking *Giorgio Armani Light and Shadow Eyes and Face Palette (also available at Giorgio Armani Beauty). This dual-level compact features a collection of five shimmering shadows and five matte shadows, two creamy glowing base shades that can be used to contour and highlight and a universal translucent setting powder.
To be expected from the venerable Armani line, the shadows are silky and pigmented; they resist creasing and have a long lasting finish that looks fresh for hours on end. Perhaps most noteworthy is the versatile range of shades in this portable gem.
The neutral shimmering tones are finely milled and luminous without being glittery and the matte hues are different enough to be layered without looking muddy. Read on for how I like to apply the shades in this palette.

Sparkling Eyes to Kill Shades:
  • Or
  • Veil Or
  • Taupe
  • Marron Nacré
  • Marron Clair
Matte Eyes to Kill Shades:

  • Or
  • Blanc Cassé
  • Or Rose
  • Taupe Viole
  • Chocolat

The second level…complexion perfectors.
Just when you think that this palette has all one could desire, a simple lift of the next level reveals three more clever products for complexion perfecting. Although the creamy shades look like concealer, they are actually sheerer and more glowy than a traditional coverage-inspired base.
Aptly named “LUXE IS MORE GLOW CREATOR,this pair of illuminators in shades Nuance #3 and Nuance #5 can be used to gently sculpt the face and highlight with a tender incandescence that simply looks like really good skin. The Luminous Silk Powder in #6.5 is a translucent and universal setting and touch up shade that banishes shine, refines skin and blurs pores without imparting major pigment.
Read on for how I like to use all three products on my own face!

Next-level palette play.
Introducing the *Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet formula.
Next,  I am excited to give you a nine-shade glimpse at the innovative *Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet formula (also reviewed HERE and available at Giorgio Armani BeautyNeiman Marcus and Sephora). This revolutionary launch boasts a precise doe foot applicator, intense coverage and weightless wear that lasts an impressively long time on the lips. I initially received six shades for review and promptly ordered three more in the pink and nude family because I was so smitten with this lip color.
A single coat imparts nearly full coverage that dries to a demo-matte, non-shimmery finish that still looks creamy and multi-dimensional. In my experience, the formula translates as neither overtly hydrating nor extra-drying.  In fact, my lips (which tend to battle dryness) feel quite comfortable over the course of hours of wear.
All in all, I am over the moon for this new formula and believe that those who are seeking color-drenched pigment and a weightless finish will find great satisfaction with Lip Magnet

Shade Descriptions:
  • *#300 Tangerine: A bold coral orange.
  • *#302 Hollywood: A bright, slightly warm coral red.
  • *#400 Four Hundred: A classic neutral red…iconic in the Giorgio Armani collection.
  • *#500 Maharajah: An intense fuchsia pink.
  • #502 Mania: A cool baby pink that dries down to a nearly medium lilac pink on my lips.  Perhaps my favorite in the shade range and a must for those of us who like our light pinks!
  • #503 Glow: A bright peachy-coral nude.
  • #504 Nuda: A light rosy nude (the lightest “nude” in the lineup) and my second favorite to wear.
  • *#506 Fusion: A medium-deep mauve nude.
  • *#601 Attitude: A deep aubergine (also worn HERE).

What it is: The first liquid lipcolor to offer unprecedented color concentration in the finest of textures, while perfectly fusing with the lips.

What it does: With its extremely fine texture, unparalleled sensation of weightlessness, intense color concentration, ultrachic matte finish and flawless, long-lasting wear, this lipstick provides eight-hour wear and comfort plus intense color, leaving behind a smudge-proof finish. After application, your color is twice as intense thanks to its innovative gradual evaporation phenomenon, and its finish is four times thinner than a traditional liquid lipcolor. It’s never greasy or sticky, won’t migrate or dry your lips, keeps your lips hydrated and perfectly defined for hours on end and provides a very pleasant sensation.

How to use: Its applicator will pick up just the right amount of lipcolor. Apply Lip Magnet with the flat side of the applicator. Blend with the curved side. Spread the texture from the center of your lips outward. Use the pointed end on the corners and cupid’s bow for precision. For a day-to-evening look, simply layer on a deeper shade.

*House of Sillage Emerald Reign.
For fragrance, I have been captivated by the decadent *House of Sillage Emerald Reign Signature. Housed in a transcendently beautiful flacon, this brilliant juice possesses all the notes I love while still feeling entirely unique in my collection.
Equal parts spicy and musky, it has a warmth that works well as the temperatures continue to drop and, most apropos, its sillage and lasting power are divinely potent. If you love exceptional, non-mainstream fragrance as I do and haven’t yet tried House of Sillage, I implore you to do so!

Notes:

  • Top Note: Spicy Coriander.
  • Heart Note: Vanillin and Warm Benzoin.
  • Base Note: Sandalwood.

Product application breakdown…
For the face and lips.
// For the Face + Lips //

I started by mixing two pumps of the *Giorgio Armani Crema Nuda in a mix of 03 and 04 (reviewed HERE) and applied the custom shade with a damp Beauty Blender.  The resulting shade is approximately NC 25 and works well on my late fall-early winter skin.  I then used my *Jenny Patinkin Domed Multi-Blender Brush (reviewed HERE) to strategically place the darker shade of the Luxe is More Glow Creator from the *Giorgio Armani Light and Shadow Eyes and Face Palette  (also available at Giorgio Armani Beauty) along the hollows of my cheekbones for a light contour.  I then blended the lighter shade along my upper cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose for a subtle illuminated glow. I swept the Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Sunlight (reviewed HERE) along my cheeks with the *Surratt Beauty Artistique Highlight Brush (reviewed HERE) for bit of golden depth and finished my cheeks with the cool violet pink Marc Jacobs Airblush in Lush & Libido (reviewed HERE) on the apples of my cheeks. A touch of the *La Prairie Cellular Treatment Foundation Powder in Natural Beige (reviewed HERE) on my t-zone and my look was set and locked for hours.
For lips, I lined them with the creamy and indelible nude pink *Le Metier de Beaute Lip Liner in Nylon (reviewed HERE); this pale tone makes lips look fuller and masterfully stays in place.  I topped them with the Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet (also reviewed HERE and available at Giorgio Armani BeautyNeiman Marcus and Sephora) in #502 Mania.  This luscious cool baby pink has enough pigment to flatter a spectrum of skin tones and is truly unique in terms of its depth and tone in the complete lineup of shades available in this formula.

// For the Eyes //

I used the neutral matte shadow Taupe Violet in the *Giorgio Armani Light and Shadow Eyes and Face Palette  (also available at Giorgio Armani Beauty) and covered my eye lids with this lush tone.  I then blended a touch of the shimmering bronze Marron Necre in the crease and followed with a dose of the yellow gold Veil Or.  A dash of the sparkling gold Or at the upper brow bone completed the eye shadow combination.  I swept a bit of the creamy gold *By Terry Ombre Backstar in Beyond Gold (reviewed HERE) along my lower lash line for greater precision in color application and topped it with a touch of the Marron Necre hue for continuity. Two coats of the *By Terry Terribly Growth Booster Mascara (reviewed HERE) left my lashes long, dark and volumized.
